Cloud saves STILL not fixed
The game is simply looking for save data in the wrong place. Easy fix. Most people are unaware of the problem because they don't play on more than one system, so the problem is being ignored. Please fix.

yes, got the same problem here. I played on my gaming laptop on the house i'm renting for work, several hundreds of km from my home and left my laptop there. I came back home as im in vacation to play on my gaming desktop, no cloud save. I have to do everything again, and when i will get back to work, i will loose the saves again. not doing that.

Disable your Onedrive backup of documents folder, and you are good to go.
Literally, this is not a bug, it's what happens with many games (you'll be surprised how many are affected) generally speaking, "old" games. For example, Mass effect Legendary Edition (the remaster) had the same issue, just to name one.
There is nothing to fix, it's not specific to this game.
Disable your Onedrive backup and you are go.

Steam Deck does not use OneDrive. This is not the issue. And this is the ONLY game that has this issue.

Im sorry but this doesn't to jack sh*t.
Same here.

I was just trying to run two different character builds on my different computers, but doing the same stuff right after each other got old.

Yea that is really lazy, even the original Oblivion has cloud saves, I felt like in stone age when I copied my saves via USB drive onto my new PC.
Been playing Bethesda games for a while now, and I disable cloud saves for them + back up locally, because they fill up your cloud space and very occasionally it messes things up.

I use cloud saves for almost everything else; Bethesda games no.

Yep, Oblivion GOTY works fine. Skyrim works fine. Morrowind works fine. Even Daggerfall works fine. It's only Oblivion Remastered that doesn't work.
They know its an issue. they have an open ticket on it and they tell you to copy your saves from OneDrive location for now.
