Softlocked in Shivering Isles

Spoilers for the Shivering Isle questline
In the Shivering Isles questline, I decided to do the quest to become Duke of Mania. I gathered the greenmote and am on the step to poison Thadon's food. The food does not ever appear in the kitchen, no matter what hour I go down there. It is always found in the dining hall, which it doesn't let me poison.
I also do not have any previous saves I can go back to, as the autosaves overwrote and I saved over my other save as I progressed the quest. I really don't feel like doing all of this over again, so any help is appreciated.

The food is always there together with the wine. You are supposed to talk to his attendance and found out they have secret task in the afternoon somewhere around 2-4pm. You need to take 2 refined greenmote and poison his wine and food. The wine and food is always there even if you dont do duke mania quest.

Sorry, I don't think I follow. Talk to what attendance? I've talked with Wide-Eye and followed her to the greenmote stash and have greenmote on my person. I also talked with others in the house but nothing about a secret task is showing up. I also followed a video of someone that did this quest in the remastered version and the food and wine is supposed to appear in the kitchen, but it doesn't for me. If I try to poison the food at the dinner table, it says that it's too public of a place.

Had the same problem. You have to sneak into the kitchen at around 4PM, then the food is there where it should be.
Even if the quest log says "anytime before 8PM" you have to sneak in at around 4PM.

SOLVED!
I had a level up still pending. After I levelled up, the food then spawned in the kitchen. Thanks for the help!
