Why are the faces so utterly horrid?
In the original game, the character faces looked either good (Example Sheogorath), elongated (Example several Elves or Dunmer), or swollen with butter (example adoring fan and many orcs).
And with original mods, they actually tend to look pretty good.

In the remake, many faces look like eldritch horrors from your darkest dreams with absolutely mad eyes and mouths so huge you're inclined to ask grandmother to eat you willingly.

Where did the devs go so wrong?

They have "fortnite face" which uh considering the engine kinda makes sense i guess.

Now I understand why there are no children in this game. The people are 400 years old and scary ugly. I mean really ugly! Can you please create an upgrade or mod to make them look at least like the originals? You must have worked with some imaginative artist to make these character look this ugly.

Even those look better than what we got here though
The most egregious example I've found so far is when the NPC has one eye open, like they've just had some AI-induced stroke. At best, this should be used sparingly as a curious expression, but they use it when they're mad, accusatory, or repulsed. Did nobody from the team check and make sure the expressions were reasonable in real life? I love the game, but this was NEVER this bad in the original. The expressions may have been over-the-top but they fit the tone. This just feels like AI slop generation......
They still look better then some of the horrid looking ones in Starfield.
Part of the problem is some characters have extremely bright unnatural eyes. It works for some and doesn't for others. Also I've noticed vampires have red noses, as if they are drunks. Count of Skingrad is one example.

Yes, a lot of NPCs squint one eye when they talk, looks funny.
I think they are prettier than OG Oblivion.. Those early npcs looked like potato people.
Many are prettier, but not all.
The Remastered faces look better than the melted plastic faces from 2006 Oblivion.
