OK so the article I read was right with Hardware RT I get about 10 Frames per second worse performance outside than if I switch Hardware RT off.

Makes no difference what quality I use on Hardware RT or indeed what quality I use on the software Lumen.

Hardware RT is always about 10 FPS worse performance than just using software lumen.
The downside is it does impact the quality of the lighting for the worse.

The take home is RT Hardware support Lumen gives better more accurate lighting , but software lumen performs significantly better.

I'm using A 3060 12Gb 32Gb RAM i7 processor for these tests and playing at 1080p. I've decided since the frame rate with hardware supported Lumen is still ok for me and it looks a bit better I'll stick with that.

But if you are struggling for frame rate and have an RTX card try turning Hardware RT off and see what difference it makes to frame rate. Don't forget you have to make the change on the menu screen and apply it there for it to take effect. If you just switch in game most graphics settings only take effect next time you load from the menu screen.

yeah software lumen runs faster.. but i just cannot overlook the visual downgrade it gives to shadows on trees, and general reflections.

its just a night and day difference for me.

im content with using framegen and dlss4 performance mode to get good framerates

Agreed. I would turn it off for performance if I didn't mind the visual downgrade but tbh, it's just too noticeable of a difference for me to stick with it >.>

For those who don't mind though, I'm sure it will be beneficial to have it on Software instead of Hardware

Yes ultimate i opted for quality over speed to, just though it interesting as many people might assume the hardware option would be more performant not significantly less so.

If frame gen worth while? Its not supported for my card, but not sure I'd want to use it since your real framerate is still determining how the game responds to input.
