Aid for Bruma
So I was having fun in Oblivion, but the amusement began wearing off once I started doing the Aid for Bruma quest. Closing Oblivion Gates gets old pretty fast and there are so many of them to close.

Count #1: No I can't send any help to Bruma because there is an Oblivion Gate outside my town.
Me: Ok, I'll go close it.

Count#2: No I can't send any help to Bruma because there is an Oblivion Gate outside my town.
Me: Allrighteethen, I'll close it for you, I guess.

Count#3: No I can't send any help to Bruma because there is an Oblivion Gate outside my town.
Me: Not again...

Count#4: ...
Me: Where's the gate already? FFS.

I think you can ignore most of it, you just get less npcs fighting on your side at the end (I think, going from memory)
Not done that quest for years.

Sounds like you've been Oblivion'd.
That's the game. It's a very old game and only a remaster, not a remake. It's ok to not like certain aspects of the game ,but it is what it is. It was cool in 2006 and now parts of it are very tedious because every game since has done it to death. Just enjoy what you can and leave the rest.
Well, if I don't have to get help from every town in the game, then I guess I'll just leave it.
Don't forget that Martin loses his "essential"-flag during the fight in Bruma.
So he can actually die, which makes the game forcing you to reload one of your previous saves.

So having more support makes it easier to get past that plot stopper.
