do follower npc's respawn???

i know you can tell some npc's to follow you for instance from battle horn castle once you claim it you can have the man at arms follow you. but if they die will i eventually just run out of them to have follow me? or do they re-spawn over time. this is just one example of a place that offers you a follower but its the one i have unlocked right now. i cant find much online about it but google ai says they will not re spawn as they are considered a special npc

After beating the Knights of the Nine questline, you get knight followers at the priory that you can tell to follow you on your adventures. How that systems works from what I understand and could be similar to other locations that allow you to have NPC's follow you is that if it's a named NPC, if they die, they are replaced with just a standard NPC. So if the Man at Arms guy you're talking about is a named character and dies, he could be replaced with just a generic NPC back at the castle called "Castle Guard" or something that will still follow you.

if the npc has a crown icon when you go to talk to them there immortal if its a coin they will die
