They butchered close combat!
Had not much to complain about the remaster until now, but that one is really bad.

Who thought it was a good idea to reduce the endless stream of attacks from the player to three strikes in a row (plus a randomly executed bonus strike that totally breaks my block pattern)?

Did mainly marksman and blade first and also was leveling block at the time. So I only notice the randomly executed fourth strike (did I mention that this unwanted additional strike breaks my block pattern of attack-attack-attack-block and got me many unneeded hits?) but not the break pattern...

I am trying to level Hand-to-Hand at the moment and it is a disgrace. H2H was such a blast in Oblivion making you dance around your enemy while giving him and endless barrage of tac-tac-tac-tac-tac-tac-tac...

Now it feels like I am an 80 year old chain-smoker barely able to lift my hands. H2H without training from 5 to 100? No thanks, I will pass until that break pattern mess is fixed.

regards

Smoking isn't always bad; there's a reason they want to get rid of it so badly now when all you heard was promotion for it before.

ANYWAY, it is worse, and I could've sworn you used to UNLOCK new attacks instead of just randomly doing them. It was better.
Everything old was better, including smoking. They lived longer.

As a hand-to-hand player, I'm on the fence. Overall, the controls feel better than they ever did. However the rigid three blows is definitely annoying and not ideal.

What is going on here? Had that thread several times back on top page but never a new post?

They also borked 2 handed weapons badly.

They slowed the rate they attack down to about half the speed of the original but never bumped the damage up to compensate.

As is there is no reason to ever go for 2 handed weapons aside from pure looks as 1h+ shield does pretty much the same damage output over time now while also having a block & 1 more enchanted item.

How do you have 1 more enchanted item? You realize you can have a shield "equipped" while using a 2-handed weapon?

I meant actively in use.

BTW did a little testing the reach from 2 handed weapons also seems to be around 25 - 30% less then it was in the original.

Just another reason to never use them.

Depends what was being smoked.

I'm just upset about not being able to switch weapons in combat.

I don't like how it looks when the shield is there.
That is a fat bug that happens if you switch to a two-handed weapon while you have a torch equipped. Happens also with bows.
The oblivion endlessly swinging a Wiffle bat was terrible though. the combat isn't great but it's slightly better than the original.

What? I switch from a bow to a melee weapon all the time.
