you can go where you like in skyrim too, just run straight t whiterun and ask the guy on the horse and cart to take you to any of the 9 holds
The questing is VERY on rails compared to oblivion
Hard agree with you
skyrim is mid asf, story and guild quest are so bland lol in comparison to Obvilion
Skyrim has just minor gameplay evolution, that's it
And the openworld is just snow snow snow
I remember doing multiple playthroughs I was a good guy, bad guy, normal, completion est and multiple rolplays just goofing around looking for secrets. Im only board cause I know the secrets and whats gonna happen story wise so for a veteran Once you get over the new visuals and start noticing all the cut content and brown everywhere it becomes a bit Meh.
Little inns dotted all across the map, some of them have interesting names and lore. Many NPCs have at least a line of dialogue that is unique to them specifically, talking about their siblings, their shop or whatever - they comment on others in the area. They seem to have a schedule that they live by.
So many forts and ruins that you pass on your way to somewhere. I love the cities in Oblivion, these are sorely missed in Skyrim. The cities are very unique, from Anvil the sleepy porttown to the vineyards of Skingrad or the wooden huts in Bravil.
I haven't seen all of them in the remastered version yet, but wow. I wish Daggerfall got a graphical overhaul like Oblivion, because it's actually before my time. It would be so easy to play it if it looked as good as Oblivion remastered.
We can see so far into the distance, it's so cool to see Skingrad nestled within the moutnains during a sunrise - or to see Frostcrag Spire or Imperial City at the horizon.
I really like the guild quests, they seem to have put in some actual effort into it. I even found that the Ayleid ruins, so far, have a little bit more thought put into them than the Skyrim puzzles... which is a very a low bar, but still. At least it's not the kind of puzzle of three pictures that you can literally find on a claw - or on the image behind the turning stones.
It seems that the design was really well done and it's such a great idea to put us right outside the market district of the Imperial City. So many things were thought through carefully. Loved the ceiling at the Elder Council, btw - these graphic designers put their skills to work for real!
The performance also sucks so badly. This game blows.
