Leveling is too fast!
Unpopular opinion: I think we level-up too fast.
I’m max level (as far as monster and loot scaling goes) and have only finished the Arena questline. Forget the Mage and Fighter’s guilds or the main story.
I guess I need to restart and only pick Major skills that I know that I will not actually use to slow down progression.
What do you guys think?

It sounds like you are leaving out something that contributed to your leveling. I finished the Arena and Dark Brotherhood quests and I'm only level 11.
Yeap.

Without insomnia, you complete 5 to 10% of the games content and you're already at daedric and glass armor on bandits, no new enemy variety to look forward too etc. playing insomnia feels bad too. Hard to feel like I know when to level and make it feel...kinda natural.

Do not pass go, do not collect 200 septims, go straight to max leveled content.

Being lvl 11 after arena and db is insanity. In og you'd probably be 3 or 4 depending on your majors. Not a whole lot of usage of skills in either of those lines.
There's a big difference between players who just play "normally" and those who grind skills. If you're just doing the main quest, attacking enemies, only using spells when you need to then you'll level up slowly.

But if you're intentionally hopping around, spam casting, grabbing every herb you see then you're going to level up quickly with all those skills you're using much more than you would normally.

Just dont sleep. FIXED
You play against your character. I chose a wood elf Witchhunter which is all wrong for leveling up. The only skill I use much is Marksman which takes a long time to level. I don't pay for training, and rely on the Skeleton Key for lockpicking. Sneak and athletics also take a long time to level. I rarely use spells even though the character is supposed to be magic based because those will level you faster. When I chose that character the answer I got was, 'I never would have expected that'. That's what you want to hear if you want a character that will level slowly.

I agree that the leveling is to fast right now, in the OG Oblivion you leveled after gaining levels (not just xp) in your major skills. Now you level up by gaining a certain amount of xp from ALL skills, not only the major ones. so now even the minor skills add to that, and with the speed at which magic levels now, you are at a high level way faster. And i do believe this to be to fast. Just glad you can not sleep to slow it down a bit.

I'm like level 10 or 11, and I've done nothing but getting out the sewers, a couple of arena fights and bought the amulet to that dude, and that quest to take care of that small village where everyone was invisible. Oh, the quest to get the restoration to that home under water all the way south of the map.
That's it. Nothing else other than clearing out a few caves and crap.

So far, it's been pretty easy to level up by not doing much at all.
No one force you to level ?

OP here: I use a lot of skills and if ALL the skills contribute to leveling up then that is why I’m leveling so fast. I don’t mind leveling fast, I just hate that I will already be maxed-out by 20th level. Maybe if they stretched it out to 30th level, it would be better.

The game does force you to rest, as far as I know you can't progress the mage guild quest line without resting at the inn during the Anvil mage guild recommendation quest.
Ever since way back in the day, i always use mods that cut skill gain down by like at least 50%. In the vanilla game, yeah leveling up goes WAY too fast.

I agree the level "sections" they have in place are too small. 1-3, 3-6, 6-10, 10-15, 15-20. The pace it goes they could of doubled the length of each section and I'd of enjoyed it. If you don't know what you are doing and mess up your Majors you might level slower. If you pick "Maintenance" or "damage" skills as your majors you will level right through the roof.

I am really enjoying the game on adept right now because I am Insomniac gating my levels and each level up I don't do optimal attribute gains. I am currently lvl 7 and I am confident I have enough experience to be over level 15 if I slept.
