2H Claymore VS 1H Longsword
I want to see if I am the only one who feels this way.

The remaster has slowed 2H swing speed to the point that it seems like the cons out weight the Pros.

Specifically, when comparing a long word to a claymore.

Yes the claymore might have 1 or two more damage and slightly longer reach but it's so slow that I cannot see the benefit of choosing over the Longsword.

My lvl 15 character has about 60 in blade. 100 Endurance and Strength but only 50 in speed. Unless, they changed something, none of the attributes should affect swing speed so I don't expect it to change as I level up.

Hopefully, it gets addressed in a future patch.

From my testing I've found 2h has better power attacks and base damage but once you get into enchanting striking faster with 1h is absolutely better.
CLAYMORE
Just play what you think looks cool rather than focusing on numbers. Oblivion isn't the hardest game anyways. In fact, start looking at using claymore as a challenge rather than a nerf. You are a bad ass claymore fighter that doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ if claymores are inferior to longswords. You'll kill all the same.

Claymores drain 10 million fatigue per swing and weigh 45 gazillion pounds, completely unusable

Thank you for the killing advice, Peaceful Joe
Claymore.

2h weapons in general are bad. Not enough range, damage, and don't seem to knockback enemies.

Yes. I also forgot these points. I noticed a clamore I was carrying weighed 44 to my longswords 36. That extra weight, extra fatigue use and small damage difference makes it hard to justify.

Peaceful Joe made some good points.

But I find the slow block response also affects my enjoyment. Maybe if they at least sped up the blocking.
I’m about 5 levels into a new play through using Claymores. The secret is POWER ATTACKS. Especially the lunge attack, which can devastate an enemy if you time the distance just right. But I just hold the attack button down for every fight now. When you run out of stamina, you keep doing the normal swings.

Also, don’t forget to put points into Willpower and not just Strength. That’s where your stamina is going to come from.

Now, I just have to see if this strategy continues to work ok on higher levels when things generally get more difficult.

2H weapons are the suck in this game. They're only for looks.

The slowness and mediocre damage output is especially fun when dealing with multiple opponents.
