First play through, what did you choose?
Just started the game today, spent 50 minutes creating my character.

I went with a male Breton "like I do for every elderscrolls since daggerfall"along with master difficulty and I am absolutely loving it so far, I specifically chose not to look up anything on the remaster so that I could be awed if Bethesda did it right this time and buddy did they!

I plan on creating a summoner/destruction mage build with a little swordsmanship and blocking thrown in for early game while I collect my summons.
It has been so many years since I played Oblivion that I have forgotten a lot of the spell locations, I figured I would use this as an opportunity to rediscover everything lost to my addled mind organically instead of looking it up, as the adventure is half the fun imho.

Additionally I will not be using fast travel at all to increase immersion, I am in no hurry to beat the game, instead I will take my time and enjoy every nook and cranny while I traverse the revamped beauty of Cyrodiil!

How about you? What did you choose, what are you planning, and are you enjoying the game so far?

In any RPG, I like to go with a stealth/sniper build first. I'm currently a Bosmer Agent, using a Dwarven bow to take out enemies with ease. I've also been purposefully walking to each town, even though they're available via fast travel. I find more interesting things by making myself travel the countryside.

Personally, I am really enjoying the game. It's ticking all my personal boxes when it comes to games like this: A nice, open world with lots of dungeon-like areas to explore; towns/cities full of NPCs to interact with; a feeling of being rewarded for exploration; side quests that truly pique my interest. I especially feel immersed when I'm wandering around town listening to people gossip with each other about the latest news.

Mind you, I have had to install a few mods to help with my enjoyment of the game, but for me that's usually a standard when it comes to Bethesda's RPGs. They have their way they want it played, and I have mine. With just a few Quality of Life mods, everything's pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

Oooo a stealth build very nice! Those are always fun,

Heck yeah that is definitely one thing you can say for Bethesda they do reward you for exploration! Completely agree on listening to conversations around the towns/cities some times they provide you with tidbits of lore or just adds that extra little slice of life by talking about local ongoings.

I need to hit nexus myself and see what the community has been cooking up for the game so far.
My first toon with remastered version is the same character I made on my 360. Dark elf assassin.

I was a sword swinger. Back in the day this game thrived on blunt and one handed combat (considering how unstable combat tends to be). I only ever did one magic essential character and never again. Magic is best used to augment a physical combat skill.

I'm doing a Breton Mage. Back in the day, on the original Oblivion, I did an Imperial Knight for my first character. It was good, but I have also played through as an Orc Battlemage (Atronach sign) and a Breton mage. And I also did an archer/alchemist. That was particularly strong build at end game. High-level crafted potions are very, very powerful in Oblivion, even if they are DOTs, and applying them with a bow and arrow worked darn well. Just fire a single poisoned arrow at an Ogre, back up a few steps, and watch it fall dead.

Breton no armor mage with the Steed. Leaning hard on illusion and conjuration with a bit of destruction thrown in.

Khajiit Nightblade born under The Lover with vampirism.

Still my favourite build, having two greater powers that's very good crowd control is nice, and I like to roleplay it as a sort of mage assassin. Besides, magicka-dps Nightblade was my main in ESO before quitting years ago, which is a nice touch, even if a bit irrelevant.

High elf mage/thief
Argonian, just like the first time I fired up oblivion back in 06.

I picked up that rusty bow and started clearing dungeons, just like the good ol days.

Argonian 'paladin'
heavy armor
blade
block
restoration
destruction
speechcraft
armorer

endurance and willpower favored attributes

Ritual birthsign(for the amazing turn undead spell)

An absolute tank via both physical defense and absorbs/self buffs. Destruction for fire to burn the undead and lightning to smite daedra, as well as weakness to magic to amplify absorbs.

Would've gone blunt weapons instead, but blunt weapons are kinda not great in oblivion overall.
