To those Oblivion "purists" out there.
I never really played Oblivion before but I did play a lot of Skyrim, especially the Survival Mode which I'm hoping Oblivion gets soon.

My games are usually pretty serious in Skyrim and I've made some similar changes when I play Oblivion.

-Death means start all over again
-Master difficulty only( I did mod this down to 3 times damage dealt by NPC's instead of the vanilla 6... )
-Fast Travel is a no but in Skyrim we did have a cart. I ruled that if I make it to the stables, that I could only fast travel to other stables only.
-No duplicating items
-No save scumming
-no cheats, mods ( The exception is that difficulty mod... ) or crazy glitches
-Only default classes ( Can pick up minor skills too! )

Just need some criticisms on my play style.

If you're after challenging yourself then you also need to avoid abusing levelling mechanics, very easy to get level 30 with all of this just by getting access to Frostcrag and levelling all non-combat skills (inc. armorer). It's possible to get 100 in near everything without a single fight in fact (by additionally using trainers for combat skills).

Just in the first room of the game it's possible to get 100 in Sneak, Acrobatics, Athletics & Restoration.

I am doing all of this on my playthrough (just starting).

I am not choosing a default class but rather playing an "everyman" class ie Athletics, Acrobatics, Armourer, Alchemy, Speechcraft, Bartering, Security. Best I could come up with.

I am also using the no health regen mod and going atronach so I cannot just infinitely restore my health. Sleeping to gain health is fine, waiting is not.

Also removed the hostiles from the HUD.

I did a similar thing for the original years ago, did 3 playthroughs, they all ended poorly :), but I had fun trying :)

Goodluck, no criticisms of your playthrough, whatever immerses you.

First group of rats can kill a starting character, mudcrabs can deal a lot of damage whenever they land a hit, and many spells can erase your save file instantly out of the blue (and that's being a Breton with 50% Magic Resist).

Doesn't sound like the kind of fun I would take pleasure in even if I did play OG Oblivion on highest difficulty. I just don't like the idea of a random death deleting hours of time invested into my character in a game that isn't meant to be played like that.

Joining the Mages Guild and talking with other members on how you could create your own spells at the Arcane University just seems much more "RP" friendly then like starting the game, and some how you know of a place? Also, I do not think you are really breaking "RP" when you get to the University and start experimenting with spells. Just that I don't think a Monk for example, although he has Alteration, wouldn't consider to join the Mages guild.

Combat and Stealth classes would be doing things manually.
-Jump into a cage full of rats to level up Block and Restoration.
-Use Conjuration by summoning a Scamp and fight it with either Blade, Blunt or HtH.
-Jumping constantly up a set of stairs to level up Acrobatics and Athletics should be fine
-Sneak EVERYWHERE. This just levels up easy
-I've argued with peeps on Discord for this but I think it is perfectly fine for me to use Very Easy unlock Alteration spell on Easy+ Chests to level up...

Like I said, I am using ( Difficulty Slider Fixed ) mod which fixes Master mode.

Instead of 6x damage done, NPC's do 3x which is still hard. Just not 6...

How about removing the battle music so you don't know if an enemy has seen you, or have it start playing only after you've already attacked it.

Would make the game a bit more tense imo

I've actually done this just recently. Hearing foot steps approaching me just gets me jumping like a rabbit.

Then you're playing on Expert. 3x is exactly what Expert is without mods.

By all means, play how you want.

Why would we criticize your playstyle? Fill your boots. It's a single-player game.

Many of us have gone through on Master Mode plenty of times and can help you get through it, if you're looking for advice.

The game is cleanly and clearly balanced around Adept and the difficulty scales with normal play such that you still need to worry about your build and such on the default difficulty. The game also gives you enough of a complex system such that you can one shot everything on Master Mode even when you're dealing 0.2 times damage and you can keep yourself alive when enemies are dealing 5 times damage. It pigeonholes you into one of two or three very specific play styles, but it's not entirely difficult once you have the game solved.

Enjoy this single-player game as you wish. If it's fun for you to play as you are, then have fun.

Default classes in original oblivion were a death sentence because they were made to look thematic and the leveling system was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad that they didn't work most of the time. Even here why not making your own class with a cool custom roleplay name?

You should add no DLC homebase until you are the guildmaster of the respective player home. Deepscorn for dark brotherhood, castle for fighter guild and so on.

No max chameleon and no max reflect also (super easy with 3 items only so if you rush this 3 item it just become a speedrun game)

But with all those restriction as other said it is better on expert instead.

There is a mod on NexusMods that changes the text that you see during character creation back to the original version.
