Master Difficulty - Crabs 3-shot Non-Armor Pure Mage

I get out of the sewers trying to play a no-armor pure mage. My first target is a crab. My spells barely hurt it and it 3 shots me.

Is it even possible to play Master as a non-armor pure mage right out of the gate? Is there some cheese to this that people are using?

update - summoned skeleton kills it in 2 hits - so thats my play i guesss. no more fireballs.

I beat the game on master. You have to use conjuration since your summons aren't affected by the difficulty modifier (poison isn't either so that can work too just requires a lot of menuing). Blade and blunt only do real damage if you have maxed out chillrend/rockshatter.

As far as I know when you play Master you are playing "cheese" mode. You min max your character's race and birthsign. Then you abuse 3 methods of damage: Poisons, Summons and Weakness spells (Weakness can be ramped)

They also tend to go Heavy Armor and Alteration so they can hit the 85% damage reduction cap. Same for Magic resistance stack it as high as possible.
