If you hover Chameleon in the Active Effects menu, it should tell you the source. If it appears to be spells, not certain if you can remove it without console. You could try two things before that, creating a dispel magic spell on self and spamming it, alternatively do Sanguine Quest, if they haven't fixed that in remaster, it might randomly remove things (like racial bonuses and skills...)

i shoulda mentioned theres no active effects from the spell and sometimes its just the characters head thats glitched if I take armour off. Put armour back on, Full character is semi-invisible.

Ive had the same bug. All you gotta do is quit to main menu and the load your save. DO NOT PRESS CONTINUE. You have to manually load your save by going to load and load the save you want. This fixed it for me
same i ate like 4 handfulls of blood grass and became walking glass

Do you have the 20% chameleon ring on ? People tend to forget sometimes.

I was using the chameleon ring, and it happened to me. I was taking it off and on as i needed it, and at one point it just stopped taking the effect off. Once i got around it by taking all my equipment off and on again, and it was fine. Another time that didnt do anything, so i saved, went to main menu, manually loaded that save, and it was fine.

Just load a quicksave, it helped in my case.

I personally had the bug myself but npcs still see me at all times loaded an old save thankfully whenever I use my bow with the spell it triggers. So if I am going to use it I change it out and if armor is still invisible I take it off and put it back on. Hope this helps

This one is pretty annoying. Chameleon has a 100% bugged chance after the actual effect ends. Invisibility is far less, at around 40-50% chance. I just avoid chameleon all together until it gets fixed.
makeing this noteworthy future reference
just unequip every armor parts you wear ( including shield ), weapon you wear and rings, amulets. well everything you wear.
then equip them again.
no need to close inventory between unequip then equip.
I just discovered removing your armor and then re-equipping it fixed the problem for me.
Seems to be a bug possibly relating to Chameleon being a timed effect usually.

Any time I put on anything with the effect and take it off after a moment this seems to happen. Sometimes it also acts up, and instead of the "refraction" effect where you look like glass, it will be a 50% transparent with colors and stuff.

Hell - one time, I was swimming around in a cave in first-person, left, entered third person and only my arms and head where visible - but the rest was still the glass effect (so it was like those body parts shaded in on accident).

My guess is it's related to them being magical effects the game is trying to time out or reset constantly when there isn't anything to do. Similar happens for example when you complete the Shivering Isles, you can re-acquire the Flame of Arden Suul from the Seccelum for that "on fire/green fire" effect, but after a while it stops showing the flames right and just becomes a bad looking shimmer overlay.

I paired them for a bit even and it was... bad... haha, gotta love these old bugs.

Edit : also - for me it was just save/reload to fix.

Using the spell does not affect my game, however when i equip any item with Chameleon on it, and i remove it , the visual effect remains permanently even though the "effect" is not there. Very annoying and dislike having to redo quests without it just to get my character back. I have resorted to not using it until it is fixed.
This is known already.
Unfortunately they seem to have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up many effect shaders.

Sometimes going into water, won't remove the bubbles around your char, even if you are out of the water.

Getting hit by any damaging effect (fire, frost, shock, general magicka) can make the effect lasts forever, until another one overwrites it or you reload the save. :wellok:

Not game breaking, but definitely worth a fix!
