Burden spell
This seemed unbalanced when I use it as a poison or a spell it hardly seems to slow NPCs down but when it is used on me I am encumbered for minutes at a time. One of the niche builds I liked to play in the original was an Argonian who would use it on enemies who chased into deep water. Usually it sank them to the bottom but in the remastered it seems to have minimal effect. This is all based on the novice spell so maybe it gets better but I have found a greater potion of burden which lasted for five seconds then the enemy was back to normal movement so I am not sure.

npcs rarely carry enough to be burdened is why... even the ones in full heavy and two handing often have less crap in their inventory than you ever will. so yeah, kind of a dumb spell unless u can stack it so high they cant ignore it... its an option, but hardly optimal

Edit: Nvm i misunderstood your point. Still, are you sure it's not rose tented glasses at play? og oblivion was last playable hella long ago at this point, maybe u were using expert or master level spells?

That is a good point I hadn't thought about. It still seemed to be more effective in the original version, I could just be misremembering. I do know it was lethal in deep water but not many dungeons had enough water to take advantage of it.

It is fun to hunt around the lake surrounding in the imperial city, it is dependent on the enemy chasing you though. If I remember correctly it was also a way to get around bounties as it is the environment that caused the death not you.

one thing to keep in mind, and i'm not sure if its' true for npcs - but in og oblivion you couldn't move when you were encumbered. but in this one, you can move slowly. If that applies to npcs too, it would definitely not be as powerful as it was.

Maybe that is what I was remembering that it just nailed enemies to the floor and underwater that meant they sank to the bottom.

yep, i suspect that if they work like the players new 'over encumbered' state, they wouldn't sink / stop moving, and will move slowly. it's a nerf to the usage of the spell, but it's better for the player ... kind of a wash i guess in that way.
