From what I played on Game Pass...
I used to be on the fence about the $50 price tag thinking it is way too much to charge for the remaster of Oblivion. But after playing it especially after not playing the original version since the Xbox 360 and the Steam version very briefly, I can say it actually is worth it. Playing it once again made me realize that this was when Bethesda was at its best (Push the charged horse armor aside) I honestly thought Fallout 4 was very mid and needed mods for it to be fun, I was fine with Skyrim and though it was an alright game, but overall I went back and played Oblivion more. Starfield was just... well the player numbers on Steam now speak for how that went over with the fans who weren't playing the game with their rose tinted glasses on. And I don't like Fallout 76 enough to talk about it. But Oblivion was that game that made EVERYONE know who Bethesda was, sure the game had those hilarious bugs, and some pretty insane exploits (which they kept most of em' in the game.) But my memories come around more of watching my Father play this game as I was in middle school when this game came out, Then he allowed me to play the game as well, I remember how amazing the world was, Imperial City especially having such a large area with so much in it and I remember getting lost for hours in it just exploring and accepting side quest, Doing that pretty repetitive speech minigame to get people to like me so I could get information I wanted and the ability to haggle merchants to be offered and sell items at a better price. Fighting in the Imperial City Arena, Exploring so much of the outside world gathering loads of ingredients to work on Alchemy, Spellcasting, Archery, Sword and Shield combat. It's not perfect by any means, but it was that game that EVERYONE owned on an Xbox 360. And the fact that the standard edition comes with Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine respectfully and not to mention the other smaller DLC's Fighter's Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard's Tower, and the Horse Armor Pack. You don't even really need to shell out the extra $10 if you don't want to. But revisiting this game just made all the good memories I had of Bethesda come back, Is it going to make me buy the new Elder Scrolls in 2089? Nope, They pretty much burned that bridge of trust after Starfield. However it isn't an awful idea to bring back your older titles that made you better, Who knows, maybe Bethesda will learn from their mistakes and see this as something to think about while making the new ES game. Maybe a actual Remake of Morrowind? What will the future hold? We'll see. But as far as a step in the right direction, this is a good tip toe Bethesda, keep it up and don't disappoint with the new Elder Scrolls, blow our minds with it, Earn your trust back and please for the love of everything... Please fix the Paralysis Crashing issue for the love of god. It is really annoying and needs to be patched up. Buy it at full price, buy it on sale, either way it's just a fresh coat of paint over OG Oblivion, some areas it looks like ass, and others it looks really good. They just need to patch out the ACTUAL problems the game has rather than the ones they left in intentionally.
