What is going on with my armor durability?
Made a character and i noticed that my armor durability goes down ludicrously fast. I thought it was because i looted already close to broken gear, but i went and bought a brand new set of leather armor and it was at 40 durability after ONE fight with a WOLF. What is happening?

Because it's light armor which is made for sneaking or staying in the back, you want to go Melee crazy go heavy armor.

just buy hammers and repair it all eventually your armorer skill gets super high and you can repair to 125% and durability drains really slow.

I've seen people talking about this. If you have a shield magic effect or greater power it causes this. I have not tested.

It's also likely it wasn't at 100 when you started. Looted armor almost never starts at max level.

That could be it honestly. Im playing an Orc with the Lord sign, and i have noticed even heavy armor goes down durability wise CRAZY fast.
It's def broken at the moment in some way, breaks way faster than intended.

its broken but. you can get your armored skill up really fast. just dont for get to buy some hammers. i usally roll with at least 20
Different armor has different health values for durability. Heavy of course has more health than light. Leather has really low health since its low level light armor. Better than fur though.

armor sustain is a skill like destruction or blocking, you need to train it.
repair hammers train it.

There's no denying it , armor durability sucks in all games. Luckily in Oblivion the gear doesn't turn to dust, and you can repair it from your inventory with hammers.

If you can, try to complete the Knights of Nine quest to get the full crusader gear. You can put it on the stand and pull it back off to repair it and level it up to your current level.
I need a mod that reduces the speed of durability loss.

I get that but something clearly isnt working as intended. Even with heavy armor, fighting 1 rat or 1 wolf will bring my durability down to 20% after getting hit twice.

Degradation slows are you make it to apprentice. But it will still degrade faster than heavy.

Nothing wrong, this is how it used to be on 2006, it is how it is now.
Bring with you repair hammers, like everyone else.

No, you don't, it's built into the game. Heavy / light armor skills start at around 10 and go to 100 and controls your armor durability and effectiveness. As you take damage during fights your armor skill goes up depending on the type you are wearing. In addition there is the Armorer skill which controls how well and how quickly you can repair armor and weapons. Just be sure to carry several repair hammers in your inventory and make repairs after each fight.

You can also add to both light and heavy armor skills at the same time by wearing a mixture of light and heavy armor, but it's not as effective as all of one type.
