"why dont you explain this to me like im 5..."

So im leveling this skill thats seemingly worthless, im going into complement these people and im doing the two positives i cannot find a way to back out so i wind up having to do the two insults too or whatever they are the two things they dont like, then i just wind up wasting more gold bribing them. Years later i still dont get it... :AngryMoonman:

Not at all. Persuasion and Security are genuinely the two most worthless skills in the game. It's really easy to make money in Oblivion, so bribe away.
Ye i just got the skeleton key for picking locks makes the whole security obsolete.
yeah you have to play the whole circle, you cant skip, the idea is to try and do the disliked ones on the smaller parts of the wheel so as to have less effect on their disapproval, and try to line up the bigger wheel pieces with the parts they like, you will know if they like it or not by their facial expression, smile is good, frown is bad. eventually u can roate it once to try to get better odds, but you need i think journeyman or expert for that. so mostly just try to say things they want to hear on the large wheel section and try to say things they hate on small sections... its that simple...

bribing is generally better, its not that expensive either

skill issue
It's because people focus on the two positives instead of the two negatives, or rather, the one large negative. If you prioritize minimizing the hit on the strongest negative, the rest of it comes along fairly easily.

It's fun to imagine what your character is actually doing during this minigame.

Bethesda doesn't know how talking works.
Probably more for roleplay.
i normally hit the 2 positives with the 4 bar dial, and avoid hitting the 2 negatives with the 4 bar. are there times where i hit both negatives with the 3 bar, yes, its it efficient? no but do it enough times you will get out ahead.
yeah i try to hit positives with the biggest part first, but sometimes it doesnt work as well as intended, not a bad idea to try focusing instead of avoiding hitting the worst response with the big bar instead~
