Only mods I'd recommend for a pure vanilla game are this one to fix the difficulty
https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/58
and this one to level up quest items with you, for example you can get Chilrend early and have it be level appropriate and also have it level up with you so it stays relevant.

Reading this maybe i should return to the Adept experience
Conjuration and Alchemy are your friends :)
I always played the OG on max difficulty i.e. enemies deal x6 times the damage while you deal x1/6 of damage, from start to finish and never had any problems. But I got more than 2 brain cells, so I know how to deal with it.
The mistake was uncritically just dividing into five settings along the OG game's slider values. OG Oblivion does not operate with "Adept", "Expert" or "Master", instead you are free to choose where to set it at very fine increments. They clearly tried to "dumb down" the slider with some clear "labels", but since this was done completely uncritically, without looking at the actual numbers involved, they just broke it in principle. The slider was meant to be used with many increments in each direction from the center (which = "Adept" in the remaster).
Im in awe.
Until i remember you probably still live in your grandma's basement and are fat as ¤#"%.
Edit : (sorry couldnt resist)
