100% CPU usage [SOLVED]
i fix my game with that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhPPyhr6SWw

Steam Settings -> Downloads -> Shader PRE-CACHING (Disable this and then re-enable it)

Go to the following folder: C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\NVIDIA and then delete the files that are INSIDE the GLCache folder.

Credit for this one goes to Noirfragment and Ewoke on Reddit/steam:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheFirstDescendant/comments/1e1sbla/preparing_shaders_solution/

Go to C:\Users\%user%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows

open Engine.ini and MODIFY

r.ShaderPipelineCache.Enabled=0

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

update:

backup your Saved Folder, DELETE your Saved Folder and DELETE the NVidea Cache.
this will processing the sharders once more and back to normal.

** the mod who change the Engine.ini it's optional.

Not sure disabling entirely is advisable, I've customised my config with:
r.pso.PrecompileThreadPoolPercentOfHardwareThreads=50

I do need to spend more time testing individual adjustments though I do think this has eased the load on my 3700X CPU (8 core / 16 thread), particularly during initial indoor to outdoor load sequences. Although it didn't crash it was clearly getting thrashed to the point of instability.

steam's shader precaching is for vulkan games, this is on dx12

I had this the other day, my PC was like a rocket taking off and task manager said CPU was at 100%, restarted the game and it went back to using 30% ish. Very odd behaviour. Seems to do it every so often randomly on a load of the game.

yeah, but just edit this line r.ShaderPipelineCache.Enabled=0 the engine.ini can cut the 'invisible loading shaders'... why?!
A: you can see when you run first time the game when the cpu get 100%; You can remake the test just deleting Saved from /documents/my games/oblivion remastered, and you will see the cpu 100% like the odd bahavior

The First Decendent had this problems per map.
Hogwarts Legacy need to load the shaders when you launch the game.
both problems at steam.
What about for xbox app users having same problem but can't find folder

im also having this problem and using the xbox app. Im not that good with computers and pulled up the %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\WinGDK, what am i supposed to do once im here?
Op, don't make a vid when it's just so wrong. If you want to delete the shader cache for this game delete the ones in C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache and not the GL/Vulkan ones in the GLCache folder. This is DX12 game.

Note that deleting the dx cache folder contents after going into the game it's compiling some shaders. However i would prefer a shader compiling message.

As for the r.ShaderPipelineCache.Enabled=0 er just why? That's the opposite of what you want. I deleted dx cache and used that code and it created 500mb shader cache only. At start of game it doesn't compile shader at all as it's disabled. The 500mb is just the bare minimums. Stuttering mess doing this. Not doing this creates over 1gb. My shader cache is 9.4gb atm for this game. I have shader cache in nvapp set to 10gb.

And everyone should already have Steam Shader Pre-Cache Disabled as it just downloads icons or whatever and it's GL/Vulkan only. It's super annoying as when you start a game it says you need to download 23mb blah blah every single time you start a game that uses it. So the greater majority of us have it disabled. It was useful years ago for some older GL games. Not needed in over 10 years.

Best way is delete the file Save_Setting.sav in C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames that way you get a shder compiling message and can watch the progress. You will have to redo some of your in game settings though.

Note that deleting that one file above will fix the 100% cpu usage problem as below.

I mean technically you did fix the 100% cpu problem but just not the right way. The only thing you did that worked was the disabling of compiling shaders completely. But dude that's not a real fix. Just delete that one Save_Setting.sav file and delete your ini line that disabled compiling shaders. Game runs like crap without compiled shaders.

Note i also suffered from the 100% cpu usage issue. But not any more.

And please delete that video with all the incorrect information. Thanks

Where do I find this for Xbox PC? I go into all the folders up to Saved but dont see a SavedGames Folder
I don't use any consoles so sadly no idea dude.
I also have this cpu problem makes the game unplayable and my cpu sits at 100%/80+ degrees, but it only happens if i have left chrome browser open in the background I've noticed. Just thought id chime in, hopefully it helps some of you. "edit" could have just been a coincidence.
