Mages Guild Quest - Vahtacen broken for anyone else??

So I've made it past the Pillar Puzzle and proceeded through the dungeon until the large room with the stairs that are 'activated remotely'. Pressed the switch to activate them, it pressed....but did nothing. Was confused and decided to traverse around in case I missed something to the point multiple auto saves were created.

Decided I'd just look up a guide cause I thought I'd defs missed something. Turns out NOPE!!!! Its completely bugged!!! Try pressing the button again and it won't activate. So the stairs stay down and can't go up to the centre platform at all

Has anyone else had this issue? Its practically completely destroyed my interest atm cause my last manual save was 5 hours ago. So unless there's a fix.....I lose all that progress :(

I have occasionally encountered a problem where I am unable to activate a door. Saving and reloading fixes that problem. So you might try that in this case.
