Enable Binaural Audio (Raytraced Audio)
Folks, do yourselves a favour and plop the following in your Engine.ini under the audio section. BIG improvement to how sound propagates, adjusting on-the-fly to different environments (large spaces vs small spaces) and a much more realistic travel around contiguous room spaces. UE5 already has the tech in place, you just need to turn it on using the config lines below.

I did an Ayelid Ruin and experienced many different magnitudes of echo as I wandered around. The best was hearing muffled sounds in the distance slowly clear as I got nearer to them. Even just drawing a sword gives you a lovely travel from left to right speaker, and back again when you re-sheathe. It's a powerful and hugely immersive upgrade.

Path to Folder (Linux):
/home/uraael/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2623190/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Oblivion Remastered/Saved/Config/Windows/

(The Windows folder will be similar from "Users" onwards)
In Engine.ini, add:

[/script/engine.audiosettings]
au.EnableBinauralAudioForAllSpatialSounds=1
au.DisableBinauralSpatialization=0
bAllowCenterChannel3DPanning=True
bEnableBinauralRendering=True
au.AllowAudioSpatialization=1
au.EnableSoundOcclusion=1
au.SpatializationMethod=2
bEnableHRTF=True

[/script/akaudio.aksettings]
bEnableMultiCoreRendering=True

Save. And set the file to read-only to prevent future tampering by patches.

Happy Soundscapes!

Is there an audio demo of this on YouTube or something? Cool idea, but I'd like the hear the difference before I go modding my game files.

No idea, I just dived right in, saved a backup of the Engine.ini file just in case.

There's gotta be video, though. I found it on Nexus also being applied to STALKER 2 so it's been out there for a little while.
Awesome. Thank you! Really does sound great. Makes a noticeable difference, espec in large rooms and winding caves

Isn't it fabulous? :D
There is no audio section in my ini. Can you give me the line, how it's supposed to look like?

Hmm. Trying to guess what your .ini looks like if you're still on the original...

If you've got a Nexusmods account I can direct you to one you can download to replace your existing one. And THEN we can paste these lines into that:

[Audio]
[/script/engine.audiosettings]
au.EnableBinauralAudioForAllSpatialSounds=1
au.DisableBinauralSpatialization=0
bAllowCenterChannel3DPanning=True
bEnableBinauralRendering=True
au.AllowAudioSpatialization=1
au.EnableSoundOcclusion=1
au.SpatializationMethod=2
bEnableHRTF=True

[/script/akaudio.aksettings]
bEnableMultiCoreRendering=True
Sure, give me the nexus link. I'll try that. Also, my ini has just the [Core.System] lines. After that it's just empty.

This is a great ini file to download as everything has been tidied up into neat little sections with commentary. Plus, it might give you a wee performance boost.
The nexus ini fked my sound up. I didn't hear rain any more. And the fps were not different at all. I guess the game just can't run better without a proper fix by the devs.

But, the audio thing worked in my own ini. You don't even need the [Audio]. Would be weird, because in the nexus ini, there isn't [Audio] as well. It does some weird stuff though. You can hear npc conversations through entire buildings, sometimes.

Wow, need to try this when I get home later.

Would it not go into GameUserSettings.ini instead?

The Engine.ini file looks a lot different but the GameUserSettings.ini has things in there that already look similar to what's being added.

It might do. I'm going by what I've seen, I'm not an expert. Did you try it?

I tried it in the Engine.ini file and it might have worked, it's a bit hard to tell and I forgot to listen to it before I added it. Very subtle if it has worked.
Any chance of a video comparison?
