100 int, only 200 Magicka?
I feel like this is off somehow? im only a dunmer but seems weird when some spells are 410+ to cast, or maybe that's bc my skill is low in those spells?

It is.
The higher your skill the lower the magicka costs.
I was wondering this myself as I hit 100 int today. There are some powerful spells that cost way more than the 200 magicka. I'm hoping that the magicka cost of spells will decrease as player skill increases in each magic discipline. I'm also betting some of the more powerful stuff will require enchanted gear to fortify magicka beyond the 200 limit.

Yes, skill decreases Magicka cost and allows use of higher "tier" spells (the ones that cost more Magicka to cast).

Some birthsigns and races also get bonus to max Magicka but 1 point of Intelligence equals to 2 points of Magicka, always.

There's alot of incentive to take magician. Combine it with fortifying spells and enchants and you'll get where you want to go.

Mhm. Breton's born under the Mage are the 'safe' super mage combo (rocking 100 bonus magicka putting them at 1.5x the natural cap of other races) and High Elves under the Apprentice are the madman's mage (200 bonus magicka easily dwarfing other races natural caps and even starting the game above their natural caps). Atronach is for 4th dimensional mages.

Additionally, you can create following custom spells:

1-Magicka amplification
Effect 1: Fortify willpower 20 for 120 secs on self
Effect 2: Fortify intelligence 20 for 120 secs on self
Effect 3: Fortify Magicka 100 for 120 secs on self

2-Magicka amplification
Effect 1: Fortify willpower 40 for 118 secs on self
Effect 2: Fortify intelligence 40 for 118 secs on self
Effect 3: Fortify Magicka 100 for 118 secs on self

3-Magicka amplification
Effect 1: Fortify willpower 60 for 116 secs on self
Effect 2: Fortify intelligence 60 for 116 secs on self
Effect 3: Fortify Magicka 100 for 116 secs on self

Casting them from 1 to 3 will raise willpower and intelligence by 120 (if you have them on 100 you end up with 220. BE CAREFUL 255 is maximum. Any value above will actively decrease it back to a minumum. 256 willpower equals 1 willpower actually!) and gives you additional Magicka.

If the first spell still has too much of a magicka cost on Restoration 100, lower the values and create more of these amplification spells.

But with +120 on willpower and intelligence, you'll get a big boost in your magicka.
