So...what happened to Local Map?
A standard, consistent feature of Oblivion which I can't seem to find in the remastered edition.

And to toggle the local map while playing, after opening the map and zooming in all the way, use tab to go back and forth instead of the M key, as pressing the M key will reset to the world map, as will navigating to any other menu besides the local map. It's oddly inconvenient.
Good to know, thanks.

There should be a local map. Maybe URE5 can't handle local maps? IDK, but it would sure be nice. I have alot of areas memorized lucky for me.

You might want to re-read the entire thread.

this has already been answered, it still exists, but it's got no direct key binds, instead you have to zoom in on world map...
there is a mod to make it default to always open up in the local map and zoom out to world map, how it should be honestly.mod name: Auto Local Map - Smarter Map Opening

Honestly, I would prefer a keybind each for local and world map, and zoom capability in each without the zooming causing any switching. But then there are quite a few things that I would prefer in this "version" of the game, while there are other things I like better in OR.
This mod adds a hotkey to directly open local mod. Hate having to zoom everytime.

there's also a mod for that "Open Local Map Key Plus Toggle"

I looked at it, but I'm not installing a script injector just to be able to open a local map by hotkey.
Note the game already has support for opening the local map directly. Just press M and at the same time mouse scroll up. The local map will open 100% consistently.

I'm not saying this is an elegant solution, but it works without mods.

Edit: if you press M and mouse scroll down, you get the world map.

That's what we're already doing, M and mouse scroll up.

You don't need to press M and mouse scroll down, as the world map is the default.

A better solution would use TAB to switch between global and local, since Esc will already take you back to the game world, but I don't see the devs changing it at this late date.
