Race Swapped Characters In Oblivion And Design Changes
You might not notice it at first but this is everywhere. From the moment you start the game. You see I didn't notice that they race swapped one of the guards that was escorting the emperor in the tutorial level. But they did. Originally there was only one red guard among the 3 guards the emperor had with him. I first noticed it in the city of Kvatch. I remembered vividly that Savlian Matius the Captain of the guards in Kvatch was a grey old man that was holding the Oblivion gate with his men. Well not anymore. He is not grey or old and he seem to have done a hell of a lot of sunbathing in the last two decades as it seems. I thought I it was in my head at first. But then I started seeing it everywhere.

Not only they swapped white people for black variants but they also gave the black people in the original game almost exclusively full on Afro haircuts. Even if the original characters didn't have anything resembling an Afro. Although some character did have Afros originally too. Like Tavia one of the characters you encounter in the camp outside of the city of Kvatch. She is a black woman that seems to also have what looks like an Afro in the original game as wall. I remember dreadlocks in the original game. But I have not encountered any of them in the remasters version of the game even-though that I playing it for hours. It seems that only race swapped characters have different hairstyles now. Like Marc Gulitte a Breton mage that works as an Evoker of the Mages Guild at the Anvil Guild. He has long lass black hair. The thing is he use to be blonde in the original and he has also done a hell of a lot of sunbathing since the original too.

Other characters just got the skin darkening treatment. Like the mage Ontus Vanin that use to have a slightly orange / yellow looking skin tone now he looks sunburned to the point you can probably smell it through your screen.

And this skin darkening theme of non dark characters is going to ridiculous lengths in this game. The Dark Seducer Guards of the shivering Isles use to have an alien blue skin tone to them. Well not anymore. Now they are so dark you can barely see any blue tint in them at all.

There are hundreds of those cases. I would be here all day if I were to try and list them all. Although I will throw a few screen shots and comparisons up for reference.

I am sure that you have heard the controversy about the gender types. Were they gave gender selection different names and the inclusion of things like make up and lipstick in the character creator. Well I am sure that all of this is the result of trying to make DEI changes in this 20 year old game. The thing is that the game was already inclusive as it was to begin with.

And if that's the case other minor changes might also be linked to a much bigger narrative. Like the color change in the Uniforms of the guards in the city of Skingard. They use to have a nice deep wine red uniform. Now it's pink and while I would not pay it any mind under normal circumstances the fact that it happen in this sea of design changes means that all of this was intentional.

And before you ask why I care about all these... I care because they cared enough to make the changes in the first place. Why couldn't they just remaster the game? You see if they are worried about changing the race of minor NPCs in a 20 year old game like that then that means their priorities are screwed up to begin with. They are not concerned if the game is good or not. They care about what skin tone the characters on the game have and what sexual orientation they might prefer.

That means we don't have any hope that the next game in the Elder's Scroll series will be any good.

As I am getting tired of seeing this - I am going to give you a meme reply.

The next TES game already is supposedly happening in "Hammerfell" (suspected long ago even, so don't try and be like "DEI!") - what do you expect exactly is being removed from it with all this?

If I had my way - we wouldn't really need to have this discussion, as the next TES would exclusively take place in Akavir and focus exclusively on those beings (ape men, dragonkin, nagas, etc. - maybe a wereshark or two that come onto the land for some reason).
Yes, they did. I don't particularly care though. Its not like theres an invasion of different cultures and only a few white people.

Great read, If you are able to compile the changes in a documentation format let me know. At this point it's just funny to see all the changes, because as they add up, it just becomes more obvious.

I'm sure the discourse around this will beat out the body type discussion and be more insightful than a native of Dementia having a debate with a citizen of Mania.

It's an interesting observation, at least.

The three guards are still the same races they were, Virtuos didn't change anything. He was a dark skinned imperial in the original, too. As for Savlian, he was literally yellow in the original, so he was obviously supposed to be tanned(but again, still imperial in both).

As more time passes people will notice more. But too late, bethesda already took your money.

Well, you can mod them all back to their original styles, but watch as Nexus mod bans it.

We need that representation for people with jaundice.
We don't need screenshots, we need this. If it checks out, it doesn't make sense why they would do this other then what was mentioned by you op. Keep us posted if you're still interested in showing us all.

Is that a joke? White people are a minority IN THE WORLD! AND The Hard Truth
White Western Nations (Britain, America, France) were the first and only civilizations to:
Abolish slavery on a large scale through legal means (e.g., British Slavery Abolition Act of 1833, U.S. Emancipation Proclamation of 1863).
Enforce abolition militarily (e.g., British Royal Navy’s anti-slavery patrols in the 1800s).
No other race/civilization has a comparable record of systematically dismantling slavery as a moral imperative.

The fun happened 20 years ago and that didn't change.
This is what they changed without adding anything fun in it.
See the problem?
