GAME is writing the shader cache from scratch on every start !!
game is writing the shader cache every single time when you start the game from scratch. doesn't delete the old files, so every single time you start the game it takes up 1gb of additional shader cache on your OS partition !!

please fix this fast, its insanely annoying and the wear on the nvme is also unnecessary.

this started happening when i updated to the newest nvidia driver 576.15. on my old driver (nearly 1 year old) this didn't happen

good for you, its still doing this on every start on my system.. i put shader cache size to 5gb and it does this until it uses all the 5gb shader cache -.-

You have the folder set to read only? does not happen to me, it did shaders one, never again.

no, but i found the error. its a small bug in the game.

when you write the shader cache on one driver, then reinstall a new driver and delete the shader cache, there is still a file left in the config folder. this file then bricks the shader caching and every time you start the game on a new driver it caches the shaders from scratch.

i deleted that file, cached the shaders once agin from scratch and now its not happening anymore so all good.

never saw this bug before and its a funny one :D still devs should fix this as some people will be affected by it without even noticing (mostly, unless they load into their games and their cpus are at 100% and the game stutters for like 5 minutes before it starts working normally loool)
