The game crashes and bugs out on some PCs but not on others. Even with hardware way above the recommended specs. Nobody knows why, even after a lot of investigation. If it works for you, consider yourself lucky.

Some of it will come down to software they are running like MSI Afterburner / RTSS, Armory Crate, any other overlay, any other streaming software, garbage that calls hardware acceleration for RGB and other functions like Corsair iCUE, etc. -- list way too numerous.

It was on the developers of the game to use best practices when coding the game and porting to Windows to prevent these issues. You already know the answer if they did or did not :steamhappy:

Quite a few testers are having trouble too, and they usually do their testings on clean installs. That makes me think it's hardware or driver related.
game has a memory leak, I have similar specs, 13700k, 3080ti 32gb 7200mhz DDR5 and I get 1-2 hours between crashes, it's faster if im streaming to my friends on discord.

Definitely feels like there's a memory leak on my end too. I've only had one crash, but after playing for a while, the game slows down to 10-15 fps in outdoor areas. Only solution is to restart the game.

oofies... I'm wondering how many of you are experiencing Oblivion your first time~ Game was ALWAYS a buggy crashing mess~ And it was perfectly normal when it came out years ago~ They released the same game with just a new coat of paint, what did you expect? lol

the OG version is not currently the buggy mess it was on release...they didn't upgrade from the buggy un-updated version of the game, did they? That would be wild.
Anyway, the original release was in 2006. Nearly 20 years ago. Revolutionary as ♥♥♥♥ for its time. Not so much today. Should not be crashing like this. I support the developers and always will but you can't ask people what they expected after they dropped 60 bucks on a game that picks and chooses when it wants to work. The devs aren't going to fix a game that no one is complaining about. So complain away imo.
are you by any chance using DLSS4?

It became much more stable after framecap..... One problem it keeps reverting to old settings without framecap. odd..

Turn off FSR and frame generation. The game still slows down with the fps after an hour of play. I was crashing every hour with fsr and frame gen. I turned it off and now can play for hour straight before a crash. Frame gen and fsr hurt my performance hugely at 5120x1440p. It's on by default.

Your rig is far superior to mine and yet, I can play with no problem thanks to 1 little mod that takes away the need to high vram.

60 hours, zero crash.
Definitely user error.
Bethesda patches are for destruction, not repair.

Nah. I have had 60+ crashes. Great PC, FPS limited, no modding, etc... Someone is this thread described a major problem: paralysis breaking NPC physics, which crashes the game 75% of the time. Very unfortunate for those of us who went with an archer build, since at expert level marksman or higher the paralysis proc is an almost certain crash. I've had other crashes for other reasons as well, but that in particular has been very problematic.
I'm getting constant crashes also, they happen sometimes when I enter a new area, and I'm having a really specific and reliable crash trigger hahaha If I get arrested, I can't sleep to pay off my days because if I do so, the game crashes every time, so I'm forced to jailbreak
