No, I mean missed shots that end up in the ground, sticking in a nearby wall, etc.
I walk up to them and they occasionally disappear before I can grab them, while I'm looking at them lol
I don't make it a habit to shoot corpses, what's the point in doing that? You don't get skill from that (you only get archery skill if you deal damage and it's based on how much damage you do IIRC).
Of the few times I have shot a corpse after it was dead, the arrow remained though I don't recall if I ever shot anything in the head that was already dead.
