Stealth is not working as intended
Ayo, am i the only where the stealth is not working like the original?
As soon as i sneak attack someone while i'm in total darkness the enemy is completely aware of me and even if i move quickly somewhere else where the enemy has no vision of me, the eye from the stealth remains totally open with no sign of changing not even when the enemy has no sight of me after 5 minutes... they still can see me and chase me exactly where i'm standing.
How did they manage to break something from the original game that was already beautifully broken? :(

Edit: more details: equipped with Light armor, Sneak level is above 50, difficulty on Adept (medium) and it happens specifically when you can't one shot the enemy.

No it seems to be the game is a buggy mess as always lol
Enemies endlessly following you, Seeing you through walls.
Stealth doesn't seem to worksometimes and my sneak skill refuses to go up
Not the only one. I was spotted by one NPC in Fort Nikel (sp?). Soon as that one NPC saw me, all the NPCs were alerted to exactly where was, even from across the dungeon. The enemies were locked behind a gcat, so I ran and hid well out of sight. I walked away from my computer for a while, like over half an hour, came back and they were there, full eye open aggro'd at me.

Light armour, stealth character.

that sounds like how it worked before
The game is broken >.> I have 100 sneak and 100 agility wearing dark brotherhood armor some how them looking directly at me in darkness crouch they see me some how o.o I dont think stealth bonus is working either <.<
My stealth was broken from the start. I get spottet from across the room no matter what and i never ever get any stealth crits with bow or dagger/short sword. Only wearing light armor and even unequipped my shield wich is classified as light armor also. My old Oblivion char was sneakier wearing heavy armor than the one i am playing now in the remaster.

I have issues with stealth as well, Sneak is now 50+ and wearing the Dark Brotherhood armor and unless their backs are turned I'm spotted immediately.

There is a bug in the game with equipped weapons, you'll notice from time to time your avatar is holding nothing and using a fist, so it's likely that the game forgets what weapon you used, and treat sneak attacks after the 1st as 'unarmed' 1x damage multiplier.

Also since the game uses gamebryo as a backend and the 'client' where npc can 'see' via visually is UE5, there is a good chance their 'detection' is way higher visibly than normal, negating your stealth skills massively.

In older games on the Bethesda game engines, their stealth mechanic is like a timer on a range with math that uses the skill to 'reduce' the detection distance.

But due to them using a plugin in UE5 to make it work with Oblivion's game engine, something was lost in translation and turned into a simple 'line of sight' detection, so if you are within a certain range in front of them, they will always see you, even if you have 100% stealth with 50% camouflage.

Someone run 100% camouflage and see if NPC can still detect and lock onto you in combat? In the original game NPCs are 100% unable to lock on and attack you when you are 100% camo.

Get the camoflage effect on, and test it from 25 to 100% to see if it changes anything, if not then it's the UE5 wrapper breaking stealth (vision) related mechanics.

I also noticed when I creep up on enemies behind them in light armor that is a humanoid, I can rapid tap movement slightly at walk speeds and can creep closer, but they'll keep saying "Huh? Is someone there" on machine gun speeds.]

The 'build up' on the detection gauge is the same rate no matter the skill level when I creep up from behind, but from a distance it always has a cap on detection (for instance at X distance its always 0% detection, and closer at a certain range it's always 50%, locked in based on your movement). This is noise detection btw, not vision.

From my experience, once you're noticed no matter by what, you have to run REALLY far away to go back into stealth. Sadly this was stealth back in old games, though idk if it was this bad in the OG.

You couldn't just run around a corner and hide and the eye go away they'd still be searching until after a while of misdirect you'd finally break it by not being in the same place or close by but this seems... extreme. I ran from bruma to spire and a guard chased me from inside of bruma alllll the way up. I stayed inside for a few minutes and when i came back out here was standing there waiting on me. Called me criminal scum and took me to jail. And i had a bandit chase me even further basically from one town to the next. Even outran him and off screen him but he followed.
This was annoying me so I made a mod to fix it. New to Oblivion and TES modding but this should do the job. This bug was driving me insane.

from what I've observed, usually other enemies don't join in and attack you unless they can see the other person as they are being attacked, though sometimes they join in if they see another npc engaged in combat (like 1 bandit seeing another bandit fighting you but you're still in stealth) If enemies are joining in from say other rooms and you are still in stealth during combat, that would be a bug, though it is not uncommon for enemies to aggro from other rooms if you aren't stealthed

Nah its 100% broken, I could sneak attack at the start of the dungeon, and enemies through 3 floors and walls, behind locked doors that they cannot unlock would aggro. They wouldn't be immediately "in combat" but would run from the end to the start to spot me, and then fight, so basically the same thing
Although I did notice this only occurs on sneak attacks, if you they aggro you just by spotting you, only they aggro. Must be some sort of weird interaction with internal crime reporting that I have no idea how it works, and that would be altering their nearby allies

I figured out why the bow's sneak attack isn't doing 3x damage.
It's because you didn't charge it long enough after a draw. If you fire right away within a second it's 1x. If you charge it over 1 second, to around 2 seconds it does 3x consistently.

Basically it drains about 25% of my fatigue to do 3x damage.

I have 8 sneak and dudes can hear my little mage feet scuttling from across the room bro it's ridiculous. I've never been so unsneaky in my life.
