Question from a Newb
I'm old enough to have bought Skyrim when it first came out, but I never did. I don't think I've ever bought an elder scroll game. I never had the push to do it that would get me off the fence.

How does this game compare to Skyrim and which would you say is better, even a better bang for your buck?

Bang for your buck? You're definitely way better off getting Skyrim because it's way cheaper.

Even if you really wanted to play oblivion, you're better off with the original for now, it's a fraction of the cost for the same experience. This version just has higher graphics (that many rigs can't run smoothly) and retains all the jank the original had.

Well... I wouldn't recommend this version over Skyrim. There are a fair amount of issues that you have to creatively solve, or fume about, because it's just really buggy.

It doesn't have an unofficial patch yet. So, if you want a smoother experience out of the box, choose Skyrim. But if you are used to a couple of setbacks and these don't make you upset, then try this one. If you don't mind old graphics, then pick up the original one.

If you never played Elder Scrolls games this game is a good starting place o.o Question is can your PC running it though o.O Because Skyrim takes place in fourth era basically the future since Oblivion takes place in the third era <.<

Skyrim will likely have more content. So bang for buck, Skyrim takes the cake. Its cheaper as well.

Better, is objective. I would say Old School fans will say Oblivion, but tbh its up to the player.

If youre strapped for cash, get Skyrim.

Gotcha. Thanks

Skyrim is a better game IMO, more polished, runs smoother, is fine without mods needing to fix it, better level up system (skill tree), etc.

Skyrim, 100%, not even close.
Plus Skyrim has a ton of mods, whereas this one is just starting out. Don't be afraid to play the series out of sequence, they stand alone perfectly fine (though there are some references in Skyrim to the previous games, mainly in books).
Play the original Oblivion if in any doubt. It's old, but it's still the best game Bethesda have ever made. Skyrim is a downgrade.
All these people claiming Skyrim is better than Oblivion are objectively wrong.

No one said Skyrim was better than Oblivion, he asked which game would offer him the most bang for his buck, and the answer is Skyrim.
