NPCs just standing idle
Hi! I wanted to bring us this topic since I've been playing for a couple of hours now, and I've just noticed that some NPCs (not to say almost all the ones I've encountered so far) are not doing anything, especially around towns like Cheydinhal, Chorrol or Skingrad.

What I mean is that they are not performing their routine, as I remembered back in vanilla Oblivion. Walking around, sitting on benches, eating, reading a book, etc. They maybe interact with the random guard that is on patrol and that's it.

I remember this was an issue back then, and wonder if anyone else is having this issue. Is there a way to fix it? It really breaks the immersion... Plus the funny, absurd conversations that you can hear between them, and I'm missing.

Haven't experienced this yet. Towns are generally alive and NPCS roaming about do talk between themselves.

You do get idle NPCs. But if you wait long enough they start moving. The game seems to be behaving pretty much like old Oblivion.

Fair enough.

I did notice though, after I posted this, that after launching the game again (not just loading my save) the NPCs I was complaining about started wandering about, having conversations or performing animations while sitting such as eating. Specifically, the NPCs at the camp before Kvatch.

I'm still unsure what's causing the issue where suddenly they won't do anything and are just standing, doing absolutely nothing. A bit annoying that to fix it when it happens is to restart the game. :dos2skull:

Had a friend describe issues left n right that were fixed simply by reloading either the game itself or the save. Not constant but it occurred.

Yeah, had an issue where a couple city guards stopped patrolling and just stood right outside of a house I needed to break into. Waiting several days didn't make them move, but fast traveling somewhere else and back did "unstick" them.
I've experienced this waiting 1 hour seems to get them moving again most of the time. A funny moment i left a home in the imperial city and when one of the guards spawned in he died and the other guard was like "oh my god he's dead!" then just went and stood at his post while i looted the body right in front of him.
