All examples of games that I genuinely enjoyed, but would have regretted paying full asking price. Not even slightly concerned about how they are not mine to keep in my steam library.
2) Game still has major stutter issues. Wait for patches.
I love the game. I've wanted to get back into Oblivion for a long time.
But... as it stands right now, you really have to turn down the visuals to get a good experience on "lower end" hardware. My system is pretty good (R7-5700X3D + RTX4070) but I was faced with using Frame Generation or turning down the settings.
Frame Gen works pretty good but the visual glitches in motion are fairly obvious at times, especially with 3rd person. I play 1st person so it's much less of an issue.
Part of the issue is I want to game at 80FPS+ because the "persistance blur" on my monitor bugs me below 80FPS. If you're aiming for 50FPS+ with Frame Gen you can get by with a much weaker system. (not ideal TBC, but people do it. it's a slower paced game and some people are willing to take a lot more lag to get better visuals)
*But either way, I'd wait for a couple good patches. Performance and/or visuals should change a LOT in the coming months.
**But so far? If they can get most of the STUTTER gone I'll be very, very happy. I could quibble over the ART DIRECTION seeming a little too "realistic" but that's more personal preference. After all, Oblivion was never a "beautiful" game when it came to faces.
Did the game launch a little early? Absolutely. Why shadow drop a remaster after 19 years when it's not ready? One can speculate. Skyblivion? Dunno.
It's not that simple.
I've tried to MOD Morrowind many times over the years, but I could never get back into playing it. If you've tried you know what I mean.
If you were comparing all three with similar graphics, HUD and controller capabilities I might agree with you.
But that's not reality.
Plus, TES: Arena is the best game of the bunch.
Morrowind > Skyrim > daggerfall >>> oblivion > arena
