my weapons loose their abilitys ?

You need to recharge the magic. Try using a soul gem.

You can also pay a recharger at the Mages Guilds.
And there is a reusable soul gem in the game.

It most likely ran out of charges for the enchantment. To recharge it, go into your inventory - Misc (second to last tab towards the right) find a filled Soul Gem, and click on it to use it. Once you do a new tab should open, showing any enchanted items you're currently carrying with you. From there, find your axe, and click on "Recharge".

Varla stones are great, too, and makes exploring Ayleid ruins worthwhile in this regard.

You have to recharge and repair your weapons and armor.

Just to add to the equipment maintenance aspect, note that you also need to repair weapons and armor, they lose durability eventually breaking.
