I'm so confused as to how a Melee Rogue/Assassin build works. Please help.
When I purchased the game all I wanted to play as is a "Khajiit Assassin melee Rogue dual wielding daggers". It sounded like a very cookie cutter build in theory. Until I discovered that you cannot dual wield daggers.

However, every single video on youtube I see is about Rogue/Assassin bow builds. I NEVER see any videos covering dagger builds. I don't want to use a bow...I want to use daggers. How does that work?

Do you use a dagger in your main hand and a stealth spell in your off hand? Do you use a shield in your off-hand? How does a MELEE DAGGER STEALTH build work without a bow? Is it even viable?

On Adept difficulty or lower? Probably. It would be the same build. You need to rush for that x8 damage boost to dagger sneak attacks. You will need to invest into Alchemy and probably also Illusion for on-demand invisibility.
You have to kind of stealth up to enemies and kill them in stealth for it to be "viable" and when you're doing that, you will eventually wonder why you are using daggers to do it, when you can do it with an arrow from range

Thus the stealth archer meme

In non-stealth combat, daggers are basically just a crappier version of anything else. So that's why no one really rolls with it

if you have a powerful enchantment attack speed is all that matters but a raw dagger does suck yes

Why don't you TRY it out yourself? How do you figure the "build-people" do it? Gosh it so hard to think yourself in 2025?

You dont equip spells in hands like in Skyrim. You can always cast spells no matter what you use. You can wield dagger and shield at the same time and still cast spells. Or use a two-hander and cast spells. Daggers do most backstab damage in Remastered so they are very viable.

You can try it and lower the difficulty to help you in your early days as an inexperienced assassin. Once you get the hang of it - you found the right spells, you found the right poisons and developed your methods - you can up the difficulty to test your mettle. Not everything is optimal - some things are sub-optimal - but the most important part is for you to have fun.

Explore the game and let your problemsolving skills flourish.

yes you need a dagger and a shield, and also a bow because bow works in stealth attack with bow is x3 dmg and with dagger x8 dmg. You need to increase you sneak skill and if you have high lvl on sneak its easy to sneak behind him and backstab sneak attack 1 hit dead or maybe 2 with the bow also works the sneak attack if there are multiple enemy is better to hit them from distance to avoid detection. Also join the darkbrotherhood by murder some one and then go to sleep and a member from darkbrotherhood will contact you and if you join them you will receive a gear for assassins and you can go undetected and is even more easy to sneak and attack.

the range on the dagger really bothers me to be honest, I feel like I have to be inside enemies for it to hit. For that reason alone I hate using it

Unless I want to kill someone up close and personal while they sleep. Sometimes the mood strikes
