Best place to store "goodies"?
Hello all. I stored all of my goodies at the Arcane University in a chest in the Mage's quarters, went to the chest later on and everything was gone. Went to an earlier save and grab all the goodies from the chest (did not lose much time). Is there a safe place to store the "goodies" until I can buy a house or get the Arch Mage quarters?

Aleswell inn is a good place. It's near Imperial City, to the north side of the lake. You can do a small quest there and the room at the inn will be free and the chest is safe for use. You can also dump your stuff on the floor at any inn room, btw. I used to do this back in the day.

I killed like 3 dudes and I got a castle. I assume that was a DLC.
Any house you buy is safe for storage, almost every town has a house you can buy. Aleswell inn works too as noted above. There are many other safe spots, you can probably get a full list from searching the internet.
Hello all. Thanx for the info. I'll check out these places.

WoW! We do get a castle and a follower. You can get lost just by exploring the Castle. I'll still keep my Hovel I bought.

Furniture and storage, for the DLC you get extra "stuff" like access to enchanting and spellmaking. Some of them have some funtionalisty.

Here's the uesp for Battlehorn: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Battlehorn_Castle_Upgrades_List

A bunch of stuff like and vendors and stuff each players house work differently. It is better to use homebase DLC as your homebase as they have more function.
Frostcrag spire allow you to create an atronach minion, the only homebase with enchanting and spellmaking and has portal to every mage guild.
Dunbarrow allow you to send crew to plunder, has training chest for lockpicking and a very good vendor for lockpick and stuff.
And so on.

As for normal housing the cheapest house is Anvil at 5k with the most expensive one is a mansion at Skingrad. My favorite is Anvil one it is really a nice home with backstory and it is cheap with build in upgrade.
