Would it have killed them to at least make the towns part of the overworld?
It's 2025, Bethesda, I'm pretty sure modern CPUs could handle cities not being separate locations hiding behind loading screens. Mods did it in the original Oblivion back in 2006-07

Lol, have you seen the benchmarking people have done on this game? Modern CPUs already can't handle this game.

yes they can, i've seen the digital foundry vid, even R3600 can run it well dipping to like high 30s in the most compelx scenarios, and that's a cheap 6 core cpu from over 6 (SIX!) years ago

Okay go ahead and create the mod then. We are all rooting for you!

how about I dont and instead ask this question on the official remaster's forum about why the ♥♥♥♥ a game in 2025 has to use the same tricks to decrease the load on the CPUs as the game made in 2006, despite said CPUs becoming several orders of magnitude more powerful over the last 2 DECADES?

that would involve the devs knowing how to re-code and not just copy / paste and run a script

devs did an excellent job of the remaster otherwise tho why would u assume they cant code

literally all of the peformance issues are the same as in CP2077. people trying to run current gen game on old hardware, the game is supposed to stutter on ur gpus and cpus from circa 2018 because it looks so much better than games from 2018
The only reason the game runs like ♥♥♥♥ is that it's still the OG Creation Engine of Oblivion with UE glued on top. I don't know how the did it, but apparently that's what it is. That means the game logic probably still runs on 1 or 2 cores, probably running worse due to the necromancy they pulled off.

For the cities being loading screens, probably just that's how the original worked so they kept it that way. Expect mods to come back real fast.

this is absurd, game's logic from 2006 can be easily ran on any modern cpu including aforementioned 3600. the issue here is that graphics also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ use the cpu, especially ray tracing. ur trying to run mandatory raytracing game on a cpu from before ray tracing was even invented, hence ur problems

and for open cities, mods arent a solution, those were notoriously buggy back in the day

Even running RT on the GPU doesn't do much, I barely hit above 70-80fps most of the time with DLSS on and I got a damn good PC (7950x, 4070Ti-S, pushing 3440x1440p tho). Lowering graphics barelly helps, hence why I suspect it's the frankestein engine they built that has issues. At least it's locked to 60fps like before.

Because it's still running the old Gamebryo engine underneath it all.
typical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bethesda, the original oblivion ran like ♥♥♥♥ on the pcs at the time it was released, you had to wait until windows 7 to make it work properly, AND HERE WE ARE AGAIN

♥♥♥♥ man, i dont understand what was going through their mind
Remaster not remake

Honestly this is a non-issue. It doesn't matter at all and wouldn't make any difference. All the cities are walled anyhow so it makes sense.
