So. Now that the dust has settled. Sorta..
Whats your honest take, the good and the bad?

(I'll assume any glazing comments come from paid shills.)

Kind of a cash grab since Skyblivion is around the corner. Nice nostalgia trip though. Hope it doesn't completely eclipse Expedition 33.
It's the game I love but it looks really pretty and has more voice actors. I think the remaster is great.

People don't have to be paid shills to have an opinion that runs counter to your own. Grow up.

Game looks worse than properly modded Skyrim and runs infinitely worse.
Don't buy this, wait for Skyblivion, you'll have a game that looks and performs better.
It's Oblivion with some Vanilla+ mods pre installed and a fresh coat of paint.

Which means it's one of the best games that'll launch this year.

The ♥♥♥♥ is this suppose to mean? lol

you obviously posted this with an agenda
Game looks great, the clunky leveling system was improved, and the vast majority of content is the same or fixed from what I've heard/seen.

Probably stay that way until the devs fix the ui error at character creation, there is already a fan patch out for it but I'm waiting till an official one comes out before purchasing, too many other games to play.

The good is that it's Oblivion with a beautiful coat of paint. The bad is that it's... just Oblivion with a beautiful coat of paint. A lot of jank still remains which may turn off brand new players.

That being said, I love it. My PC can brute force its way through most games so I have everything cranked and haven't had any performance issues. I'm just enjoying Oblivion for what it is, listening to the fantastic music, and taking in the great visuals.

I think my biggest gripe is the art direction. It looks way too generic UE5. Yes, original oblivion was a bit too green, but the remaster leans way too much into the brown. So it may look more realistic but real life isn't that brown, at least where I live. However, it's not game breaking and I've been able to move past it.
I wish it had been a remake instead. Like how Capcom remade their resident evil titles. I liked oblivion and I still do, but this thing is close to two decades old and it shows in its mechanics.

Even as a remaster, I think more could and should have been done beyond just giving it a facelift. Things like making hits having more weight, QOL like implementing a way to delete spells, or even just getting rid of all the old bugs. Bug fixing is like the minimum. Leaving most of the old bugs in screams low effort to me.

Well, I've never played an UE5 game, or the original game, and I'm having a pretty good time with it so far. Not sure what's up with the hair and fur, and why I have to choose between that looking good or the motion looking good.
