Adept Is Way Too Easy and Expert is Way Too Hard
Anyone else noticing this? I find playing on adept pretty boring, I can annihilate everything with very little effort and they deal almost no damage to me.

On expert, I am depleting my magic weapons of charge before I can even kill 1 enemy...the health scaling is insane.

You used to be able to use the difficulty slider but with the presets like this, there's nothing you can do.

Is there a console command for this like in the original (if I remember correctly)?
Same here. Originally was gonna play on Master difficulty, since I like challenge. But ended up finding out they didn't really fix the difficulty. The only way around it is a mod that lets you make the difficulty slider make more sense, instead of the absurd gap between Adept and Expert.

Then again, not really surprised. In OG Oblivion, difficulty had the same problem. And in Skyrim, difficulty was also just as annoying unless you purposely overleveled for a few hours early on in an unmodded playthrough.

Usually enemies on low character levels were relatively easy to deal with in comparison with what came later in the game (higher player character levels).
I don't know but there is supposedly a mod that fixes it. I even installed it (along with many other mods) and none of them work. So that is another big issue right there as well.

Normally, I expect mod conflicts if two or more address the same issue unless the mod authors openly state that they're compatible with each other.
Edit: assuming you actually installed multiple mods addressing the difficulty issue or anything related to that.

In my case, I got out of the tutorial area, but after I got to my third cave, I ended up saying screw it.

I understand the frustration. Last year I began modding my Oblivion (downloading mods for it for the first time, I mean, made my own tiny mods earlier) and began experimenting with Realistic Levelling because I got tired with vanilla levelling and difficulty.

I just removed all the mods except the difficulty one and it still doesn't work. I can't even kill my own summon.
I'm just using a mod to fix it. Also hear that combat ai is a lot worse on adept and lower.

I mean this has been the exact same issue since Fallout 3 introduced the 5 difficulty toggles. Why would you expect them to get difficulty settings right this time around?

Well, I'm not sure if this is an issue but... did you start a fresh game with that single mod activated? I'm not sure if mods stay activated on already started games. Also, I do not know how the mod in question works and what it does change and how. For the original Oblivion, there are various mods that alter creatures and levelled creature lists in various ways, depending on the mod.
another good example is the video in this _ - plus AI on lower and higher difficulty
https://www.reddit.com/r/ElderScrolls/comments/1k6g1fl/oblivion_difficulty_scaling_side_by_side_too_easy/ ..hm

i want a challenge to ..but at level 14 .. 100 strength and decent skills .. killing 1 random bandit .. takes like forever .. vs them hitting me ..despite heavy Armour .
:shit::steamsalty::steamfacepalm:

there is something wrong for sure with difficulty -..

Hey, I figured it out. The mod totally works. You just have to manually install it and not use vortex. Which is easier than I thought. The DEVS still need to fix this though because its ridiculous.
im currently playing Master and im level 27 with no deaths. The difference from adept to expert is a lot, but youll have to really learn the game mechanics and combine stuff instead of just being powerful off the get go.

Ive enchanted my armors with damage reduction and combining with alteration shields i barely take damage on Master. Fortify health potions and endurance. Lots of ways to become strong and do damage on Master.
Yeah I feel the same. Adept is just too easy really and Expert is too hard at times. I can one or two shot most enemies with spells, and 3 shot them with melee on adept and never use potions. Move the difficulty to Expert and the game plays a lot more like the default difficulty on the OG version, except a few enemies are just too hard at times. Think they should have just kept the difficulty settings the same as the OG verison.
