According to Bethesda 4 Million Players on Oblivion Remastered
I am not a big fan to Todd Howard but I do believe in giving credit where credit is due and they did a great job on Oblivion Remastered and it shows by the number of players who have ventured forth to play this game.

I hope the Elder Scrolls 6 is just as good. This sets the bar pretty high.

lets say almost everyone paid the full $63.50 that included the added content horse armor and everything, on PC
that comes to about 252 million in cash -
But you have to exclude atleast what ... 70% got it from xbox instaplay so they paid nothing ...
so lets drop 70% ... so thats ...
252,000,000 - 176,000,000 = 75,600,000

add in the cost of having it made by virtuose ...
i dont know what that cost , but if we think about all of bethesdas employees for 90 days of pay would it be safe to assume that to be about how much?

was this truely a high profit when you look at all the guestimate overhead costs?

I got 17% off. Only fools paid full price.

Most of this is right but I feel the need to add gamepass does also pay the developers who release games on it, either in a big chunk or per-download from what we understand (amount is dependant on game, so is if its at once or over time)

The long game is to increase gamepass subs and since Bethesda are owned by microsoft, there's not a world where they lost money, its simply building up gamepasses library until everyone subscribes to it

In 2021 gamepass was around 15% of Xbox's total revenue, theres been around 30 million more subs since then

Overall this was 100% a huge success for them and it also serves to generate hype in the main gaming scene for elder scrolls again, 14+ years of no releases will kill a franchise like nothing else so its a mandatory step before tes6

moreso than Microsofts other recent games, like Avowed... which had like 90% less players on steam - while both are on game-pass.
