Knights of the Nine Quest issue

I am stuck in the very beginning when you go into the underwater ruin. went through killed some zoms and ghosts got to where you go through the crumbled wall and then there is the hole on the other side. i can see the room but it will not let me close to the hole to go through, any ideas?

quick save, close the game (to desk top) then reload
