Bug with "Where Spirits Have Lease" quest in Benirus Manor
After defeating the ghosts, you're supposed to go to a diary page / hand by the glowing pot on the first floor. The diary page doesn't exist for me, so I can't progress with the quest. Any tips or tricks here?

For additional context: I picked up the skeleton hand, but the quest did not progress. It did not show me any page with it, either.

I have also gone and found the guy you're supposed to talk to (Elven District) and he won't acknowledge the next set of requirements, even though I have the hand with me.
The diary page is just really hard to see, it is just under where the hand was
With the lighting in that scene, the diary page looked like a piece of pottery for me, and I totally missed it. Picking up the hand alone won't progress the quest, go back to where the hand was and look at each piece of pottery, the square-ish one should be the diary page. Else, reload a save from before sleeping in the bed in Benirus Manor.

I've returned to that spot multiple times and scanned every position on that spot with a fine tooth comb. It's just not there.

I was having a similar issue but read above how its hard to see. I went back and it was there. Its a small SQUARE piece of paper. It is hard to see.
Leave this discussion up!
I was having the same problem but found the note. Thanks everyone
Yeah - this is one of those situations where the prettier graphics made the game harder unintentionally OP; the paper is on the ground, but like, the size of a tiny wet-naps packet and blends in with the floor.

I ended up putting on night-eye, crouching, and walking up and down like a scanner :stress:
I had the same problem. This is a very little square paper, really hard to find indeed brown, on brown floor. The problem with bethesda games, is there are so many bugs, you never know each time you're stuck if it's normal or not. Thanks.
The paper is there. It's just really, really hard to see.
It appears like its broken scaling on the document, likely a misplaced decimal point making the diary page tiny and near impossible to see first time out.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I swear, I thought I was losing my mind lol. The paper really does blend in well with the pottery!

Note: Be sure you PICK IT UP when you read it, or else it disappears. If you read it, then leave the message without picking up the paper, it de-spawns, and your only hope of progressing is to console command it back in.

I've had this happen in my game and could not find this page. It's very small and hard to see, but it wasn't in my game.

I ended up using a simple console command:
placeatme 00003A9B 1

This will spawn the page at your feet. Player.additem sort of works but the way quests with books works may require it to be read in the ground first, not through the inventory.

Worked like a charm.

Thank you. I had to use this console command because in my game the paper was nowhere to be found.

Just to add to this, the command above will return an error because it's a reference function. This is the full command: player.placeatme 00003A9B 1

It may happen that the game blocks your achievements after opening the console. In this case you can download a mod to enable achievements again from a mod site like nexusmods.
