Fix for DLSS disabled by the new Oblivion update (and make it even better! 🚀)
The latest Oblivion update completely disabled DLSS, which is just a terrible decision.
But good news: you can easily bring DLSS back — and even use a much better version — by using Nvidia Profile Inspector.
⚠️ Important:
Do NOT use the new Nvidia App or Nvidia GeForce Experience after doing this!
They will override your custom settings.
Here’s how you do it:

Open Nvidia Profile Inspector.

Select GLOBAL_DRIVER_PROFILE (I couldn't find an Oblivion profile, so I used the global one).

Go to 5 - Common and set the following:

DLSS - Enable DLL Override → On - DLSS overridden by latest available

DLSS - Forced Preset Letter → Preset K

DLSS - Forced Quality Level → Choose what you want (e.g., Quality, Balanced, Performance)

💬 Why is this better?
Normally, Oblivion (and many other games) use Preset C, which is based on a very old DLSS version.
By overriding it, you force the game to use the latest DLSS tech — giving you much better image quality and performance than what the game had originally!

But can you force activate it inside of the nvidia app with the new update? Would be awesome.

you can also type altar.upscalingmethod 1 (for DLSS) 2 (for FSR) 3 (for xess)

make sure to download mod that stops console from disabing your achievments

I don't see why not? You can force it in Nvidia app for some games that don't even have DLSS natively.

Sorry youre wrong. If a game does not have a DLSS Support you cannot force it through the App. As a wannabe Gamedev you need to build DLSS into the game. You need a pipeline. Different story for FSR 1 but DLSS needs to be build in. And im very sure that you can change the DLSS Version and the preset but you cannot force DLSS to be enabled through the app but thats just my guess

you're right, the game I was thinking of that I forced it in through the app does have it natively. I'm also running on 2 hours of sleep, what I was probably thinking of was that you can force DLSS 4 in games that don't have DLSS 4.

To enable frame generation, use this command
Altar.DLSS.FG.Enabled 1

Enable DLSS use this
altar.dlss.quality 4
(4 - quality, 5 - performance, 6 - best performance

I use Rtx 4070 super and I5 12400f :
altar.dlss.quality 4
Altar.DLSS.FG.Enabled 1

At ultra settings of 70-80 fps

This problem is ruining my experience on a 5080. Even my 5080 can't play maxed out at 1440p smoothly without Framegen. Why in gods green earth would they just remove it.

use these console commands. To open the console, click "~"

They didn't mean to. Someone just screwed up their job when they really needed to not screw up lol. I doubt it'll be pushed out for Steam, this either looks to be a Gamepass only patch or if it was planned for Steam it's definitely getting cancelled and revised.

I tried this but the game was still stuck on the old version with preset C.
Did you keep all 4 .exe files for the game at the top?

Yes but if the game itself hard locks the setting to be off then it might not activate.
