The error occurs randomly, but SIGNIFICANTLY more when I am talking to people. Especially Armand from the Thieves Guild

PC Specs:
OS - Win 11
CPU - i9 9900K
GPU - Nvidia RTX 2080 Super
Mem - 32GB 2667 MHz
Storage - 1 TB Samsung NVMe
Overclocking - None

Steps I've taken to resolve:
1. Reboot PC
2. Update all PC and GPU drivers
3. Revert GPU drivers to oldest available from Nvidia site
4. Changed in game settings from medium to low
5. Changed the raytracing setting (lumen?) to every possible combination
6. Disabled/enabled DLSS and tweaked the settings
7. Applied Engine.ini change that disables raytracing. Didn't work so I uninstalled the mod
8. Disabled any game overlays
9. Verified game files via Steam
10. Made sure all unnecessary apps were closed
11. Allowed the game through antivirus & firewall
12. Renamed the sl.pcl.dll file to sl.pcl.dll.old. Reverted after it didn't work.
13. Set OblivionRemastered-Win64-Shipping.exe and OblivionRemastered.exe to run as admin

I've done more to test, but I have reverted everything to its original state after nothing worked.

This happened to me last night. Suddenly started getting this error and the game crashing. Became more and more frequent. Spent 5 or so hours intermittently looking things up and seeing if they work. Setting the .exe and win64.exe to admin, reinstalling shaders of course, manually going to see if my CPU needed an update it wasn't getting, tried running it in dx11, definitely no go, running sfc /scannow in cmd, clearing my temp files and deleting saves in MyDocuments. Reducing from 1440 to 1080. Better fps, but still no. Verifying files, started reading about how it it could be the RAM or even the bios, buuut before that I finally remember something. I updated my GPU drivers early that day.

Tl;dr, Nvidia driver 573.40 update, I rolled back to 576.28, reinstall shaders and the problem has resolved. Don't know if this will work for you, but there you have it.

A quick note, during the shader reinstall after the roll back it Win64shipping crashed, restarted, shaders were good, no crashes since 👍

Just did this, and 576.28 works for me as well. Nothing past that currently does (576.40 and 576.52 both crashed constantly for me)

@Hixen you are a G!
Yes i updated also the drivers the day before and had these crashes. Today came a new one, the 576.52. Ill try it again with this one and if this is also a failure i go back to 576.28

I also went back to 576.28. With the newest one the 576.52 I can’t even play any UE5 game. Grayzone Warfare also went crashing after that..
Call Cyberpunk 2077 what you want but ATLEAST THE GAME WAS PLAYABLE!! i just uninstalled. im done. i have over 100 crashes after the 70 hour mark IT JUST GOT WORSE AND WORSE. im on a 6700xt my frineds on a 3090 and he said after about the 4 hour mark its been crashing non stop. im not playing like that. Ill just wait for Skyblivion or til they patch this game, which prob wont even do anything anyway. f*ck this game. this is the ONLY game that does that out of 300+ games on my computer. ITS NOT MY EFFING PC TODD!!! this is WORSE than the CP2077 launch because of how silent BGS and Virtuos or Xbox, WHOEVER, is. THE GAME IS OPTIMIZED YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR PCS!!!! bah rubbish!

Yesterday i played about an hour and experienced 4 Crashes in this session.
I randomly have these crashes too. Had some crashes before i updated the display drivers some 3 weeks ago, those got somewhat worse after the update. I swapped the GPU from a 3070 to a 5070 over the weekend, it got a lot worse until i rebuilt the shaders. Then it kinda got a bit better.
Some "fixes" that seem to "work" to an extent is a combination of rebuilding the shaders (deleting the settings file in the save game directory) and using XeSS instead of DLSS or FSR. XeSS seems to be the most stable and i don't really notice any significant differences in performance or visuals while playing.
The crashes still happen, but not as frequently.

Crashes are so random tho. They happen on transitions or just running around in towns or in the wilderness. 10 minutes between crashes or hours.
One new type of crash that started happening is the game just plain freezing 🤨

It's a ♥♥♥♥♥ shame, really. This is such a good remaster, just plagued with these ♥♥♥♥ problems 😒

hi, players
for me no more GPU Crash Dump Triggered Fatal Error (1 crash for 1-2hours playing (sometimes no one) instead of 1 crash every 10 minutes before
since i've done this :
*update motherboard bios to latest
* install nvidia drivers 576.52 from May 19,2025
if it can help...
I had the same issues (GPU crash dump triggered) since the install of the latest drivers. I run with 64Mo RAM, ASROSK X870E Taichi + 9800X3D and a 4090 Suprim X MSI. Oblivion or Stalker 2 crashed after only a few seconds or within minutes.
I tried a lot of fix that didn't work. I was about to install old drivers version when I just checked and updated Windows 11 Pro 64 and the BIOS of my mobo, and it did the trick, no more crashes and I still have the latest NVIDIA driver # 576.52. Hope this will help. Cheers
Roll back to month or two old drivers. Fixed.
on my old pc i had 1060 gtx cleared the game and didn't have a singl crash
here on new laptop with 4050 i already have 5 crashes wtf?
Make sure you are on the latest intel BIOS. Go to your Motherboard Manufacturer page and update the BIOS and Chipset drivers.

Also try this fix:

and this fix:

if that one does not work.

If you are on Windows 24H2. You can switch back to Windows 11 23H2 or Windows 10 22H2. 24H2 is broken buggy/mess.

If you are using Nvidia then go back to the December 05, 2024 drivers. Version 566.36 (If you are not on 5000 series) and stay on those if you are on 5000 series then download latest. The the 572 and 576 series are buggy mess after introducing 5000 series. Yes you lose out on DLSS4 and MFG, but you avoid the bugs.

Intel 13 series and 14 series have a habit of dying/crashing.

If your CPU is on the list you can get an RMA via intel. (2 year warranty extension on top of the 3 year warranty).

Purchased and downloaded. Run it and it froze. Crashing or freezing on opening dialogue - if you try skip it freezes.
Never mess with the engine ini.
Turn off auto saves.
Install a driver known to work and leave it on global defaults.
Look up Oblivion ini tweaks for new hardware and apply those tweaks to the 'Oblivio ini'.
Don't touch anything to do with UE5 like for example the 'Engineini'. Just leave it alone.
Install 'auto saver' and 'gomstar purger' that are for the old blivion.
These fixes worked for me. I also had to do a clean install after trying out many engine ini's because they some how or who knows but my game became very corrupted its seemed from using those.
Now my game runs beautiful and I was even able to up fsr from balanced to Quality.
Also don't use custom settings, use the normal 'low', 'medium' 'high' settings. Because UE5 might spaz on u.....lol serious though, don't use custom settings.
Oh and always make Hard Saves and never use an auto save.
The auto save mod is for stability, you don't ever actually use the auto saves. Only load Hard Saves.

Don't know if this would help or not but I had to same problem. I locked my fps at 60 turned off DLSS and switched it to FSR. 10 hours later still no crash.
