One of the first things I went to look for. Raytracing is still, relatively, in its infancy, and is really only good for very high end cards and systems. Great in CGI rendering and tech demos, but real time gaming still needs a lot more optimization.

But isn't the forced software raytracing just CPU-heavy?

Anyways I agree. This setting shouldn't be forced to be on with low quality on software, if your hardware doesn't support it or you do not want it at all.

No, both. From Tom's Hardware:

The GPU does all the visual RT effects, but the CPU is also required to do more backend stuff, like processing objects and geometry in the reflections and stuff like that.

As a result, RT is generally both CPU and GPU intensive at the same time. Spider Man Remastered is a good example, the CPU demands go up a lot when RT is enabled and you have the distance of RT objects set at the normal setting or maxed out.

Thanks for confirming with a source. :)

That's even worse then. Why do they force such a thing? There should always be an "OFF"-option for such demanding settings.
Especially as "Low" looks bonkers (in a bad way).

stupid question, where do you create a separate engine.ini?
There are ini files in OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData
but where would one place a new engine.ini?

Or you know, get better hardware that can handle the game instead ruin the image quality because without common sense, you bought a game with an engine your hardware struggle.

If i Change my settings (Change Windows size ) , will this RT enable again? Or stay IT by disable?
