Using Microsoft stores (PC) save to Steam
I've started playing Oblivion via Microsoft Game Pass on my PC, can I transfer the save file over to Steam when my 14 day trial of Game Pass expires?

Thanks. I was looking at some other info and that was showing the Games Pass save location is some obscure place.

unless I missing something the saves doesn't seem compatible. I have tried to transfer files but the game will never load up game pass file.

Yeah i dont know why they said its the same. Bethesda always uses my documents, not appdata. Just move the files over yourself

Would be nice to see if anyone has actually moved them and got them to work, before I play too much on my £1 trail of Game Pass.

That's exactly why I just went ahead and bought the game. I never put a bunch of time into game pass games.

I haven't got it to work yet. Gamepass saves name is a long set of characters. I've tried to rename the save file to as name in Steam save folder and the save file won't load.

Hey, if you do get it to work let us know and I'll update the first post so other people can sort their saves.

backup main save files for gamepass.

USERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\BethesdaSoftworks.ProjectAltar_3275kfvn8vcwc\SystemAppData\wgs\

copy over newest/largest save version from gamepass

add .sav file extension to then end of file name of gamepass save file.
paste into steam save location.

USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames\

e.g.
098e9f80a8f90wea
renamed to
098e9f80a8f90wea.sav

load game and click load on main menu, you should see your gamepass saves.

Great tutorial. I'll give it ago in about 10 days when my Game Pass trial ends. Thanks.
