Armour breaks within a few hits

I think the issue is I'm level 17 and my heavy and light armour are both under 40. But damn, can't keep spending all my gold on repair hammers.

leveling the armor skills will make them last longer, ya just gotta get your armor busted for now and level lol

I took light armor as major skill and being apprentice level it should be degrading at a normal rate, which apparently means going from perfect condition to completely broken just within a few hits taken. Too much hassle and time wasted in inventory so I'll just wear robes from now on.
I don't recall armor degradation behaving like this in original.

It seems to degrade too fast for me, but I need training in heavy armor. If you train it will last longer.
