Weapon weight?
Were weapons so heavy in the original game too? I crossed the first Oblivion portal with only a bow, and now I've run out of arrows. I can't pick up any weapon because I'm instantly overencumbered. A Dremora Mace is almost 50 points. That's like 1/3 of my entire inventory capacity. A single mace is heavier than a full set of heavy armor wtf.

Yes.

Swords in real life are rarely heavier than 2-3 pounds, (yes even greatswords) but don't tell that to game developers.
dremora stuff is meant to stay in the plain of oblivion, it's really not worth looting whatsoever, maybe using if you don't have anything else but when you find an actual real weapon you should be using those instead.

and yes, it was like that in original oblivion, dremora stuff has always been insanely heavy.

a dremora arrow is 10x heavier than a regular arrow.

I'm playing mage, and put 5 points into strength every level up, because stuff is HEAVY.

I have a sword irl thats around 15 pounds. But thats a chonky decorative piece. I also have 5ft nodachi, which is around 10 pounds. So both those would be on the heavy end of swords. Anything over that is in the realm of non functional. Unless you're an anime character.

Those are called wallhangers. A swords that are meant to be used are very slim,.
Yeah it's a good idea to invest into strength early on, so that weight doesn't become a problem. At 100 strength you have 500 carry capacity.

Alchemy and Alteration can also both provide the "Feather" Effect, which can be stacked for hundreds of additional carry capacity. Feather also reduces the weight of your armor for the calculation of movement, allowing full speed movement even with heavy gear.

The only daedric stuff worth looting for sale are the boots.
For the amount of money they sell for and their weight, they aren't so bad, I think it's 18 weight for 2400 gold?

The weapons are all around 5000 gold but they also weigh 60 to 90.

After the oblivion crisis, the daedra will be in their realm talking about the balding man who came and stole all their shoes.

I'm playing the original now since my GPU is dead. I'd thought it would be good to point out Dremora gear is equivalent of steel. Deadric weapons are different, as they damage ghosts
just like silver weapons can without being enchanted.

The weight thing is bothersome, but it is what it is. Part of the nostalgia, but hopefully Remastered has clean files, so the modding community can do things- like realistic weights.
