What is Software RT
what is the difference? Hardware is my gpu but it seems to run worse than software does running on high in my experience.

hardware is more detailed and more accurate rt but if you cant notice the difference then just use software
software RT runs off your CPU, I get 10fps over using hardware RT with a 3080ti and a 13700k. HWRT looks marginally better though.
Hardware RT - HWRT - runs on dedicated RT cores that only RTX GPUs and AMD RX 6000 or newer GPUs have. The more RT cores and the newer the GPU is, the better it runs. This is most accurate way to calculate RT-based graphics.

Software RT is meant to run on any GPU, even the one that don't have RT cores (for example GTX GPUs or the RX 5700 series). It's generally faster, but less accurate and less realistic.

On new UE5 games, HWRT can be used for Global Illumination and Reflections.

You're wrong, please read my comment above.

So technically Hardware should run better because my CPU shouldnt be carrying this game. Seems like it needs optimization patch tho

No, it is not supposed to run better, as it's a much more complex calculation - hence the need of dedicated hardware for it. Faster GPUs will suffer less when using Hardware RT vs Software RT, but it's not meant to run "better". It's an advanced option to make graphics better at cost of performance (both GPU and CPU).

in a lot of cases ive read about it says software RT is a less accurate version than hardware RT

as far as i can tell the software raytracing does nothing. i see zero difference visually between the two and frame rate doesn't change at all between the two. perhaps it's something they didn't actually implement in the game.
