Are enemies still Damage sponges?
I replayed Oblivion recently wondering why I never finished it. At level 10 I remembered why. Because enemies become unbelievably long and tedious to kill. Is it still the case? Somehow the Remaster gameplay I saw looked maybe even worse.

EDIT: I played on medium difficulty. My builds are great. I would want more challenge, but its fine. I just don't want to deal such tiny damage even with most damage oriented builds and best gear, and have to hit so many times. I would much rather take more damage.

Enemy scaling is the same as OG game. So yes.
If you got a ♥♥♥♥ build, of course enemies will take a lot of hits, if you don't then they go down easily.

You clearly haven't played master difficulty yet. No matter what build you have. In Master difficulty every enemy becomes a damage sponge.
yes becouse thats master difficulty, lower to adept and you will kill an enemy with 1 arrow instead of 20. buf if you want to brag you play on "master" difficulty then invest in poisons and use a combination of spells and sword.
I should have mentioned. Low difficulties are not an option. And this is exactly the problem I want the challenge of high difficulty without having to hit weak enemies 20 times on lvl 1. I tried a mod that multiplied damage taken by the player about 20x while having enemy HP levels of a lower difficulty. But that mod would break after loading. F*** mods anyway I want the devs to balance the game.
But I see. It is just as bad as it was in that regard, that is disappointing. At least leveling is not broken now hopefully.
I am trying to play on master and I think the only way in the beginning is with summons, I think they scale with enemy stats

You can stop leveling whenever you want now You will not lose out on stats since you get 12 flat points that can be freely distributed in 3 attributes every level.

in vanilla, you had a slider with lower steps, not it's this:
Difficulty...........Damage Taken........Damage Dealt
Novice...............x0.2.............................x5.0
Apprentice........x0.6............................x3.0
Adept..................x1.0.............................x1.0
Expert.................x3.0.............................x0.6
Master................x5.0.............................x0.2

It's more like summons and other NPC do more damages to you, and you do less damages than their HP getting buffed. when NPC fight each other they inflict normal damages

No, the game is super easy, even on the hardest difficulty setting
in a one on one on expert it's doable, but against multiple enemies you are pretty damn screwed. Anyone claiming Expert isn't a health sponge party is either lying or they have a ravine in their skull.

The damage received isn't the end of the world, but they should not have nerfed the player damage as harshly. IMO they should mimic STALKER's higher difficulty changes.

this. like most games its grindy in the beginning but you become op
