i really do not understand persuasion at all
anyone got some tips for me?

i just randomly select the quadrants of the circle that have the most pips on them but that fails.
i thought the colour might indicate success rate, but selecting green seems to fail just as much as selecting red

game suggests that you can tell from the persons face their mood and select the persuasion type based on it..... but their face doesnt change at all. certainly not enough to judge if admiring or joking would work

im lost. i probably was lost back when the game first released aswell and never bothered with persuasion

After the first attempt with an NPC the sections will get color coded to tell you what they like and what they hate.
Green = Love
Yellow = Like
Orange (looks more beige) = Dislike
Red = Hate
Wheel rotates clockwise after each interaction till you use all 4, goal is to get the smallest sections on Red and Orange and the largest section on green and yellow (be advised this can sometimes bug out and not show it rotating, but it is still doing so).
Honestly you can pretty much just skip it if you want, charm spells and bribing works just as well as the minigame.

Its actually really simple. When using the persuasion wheel you need to do ALL 4 actions. You need to joke, boast, admire, etc. All 4. In this mini game you need to choose the lowest number of archs/crescent when he goes sad face, and the higher number of archs/crescent when they are smiling. If you can time all correctly you can pick the bigger ones when they are smiling and smaller ones when they are frowning. After each action it rotates clockwise. It is actually quite hard when you have speechcraft under 25, when you have 25 speechcraft you can once per round rotate the wheel to change the positions of archs, allowing you more control when to pick each action. It is weird, but it is really fun when you learn it and accept it for what it is.

Here is guide as well: https://www.thegamer.com/oblivion-remastered-oblivion-remastered-persuasion-guide/

Hover over the quadrants and look at their face, Select the most pips for the happy face, And least pips for the sad face.
Start with the emptiest negative zones — the ones that make the NPC upset. When an NPC is upset, their facial expression turns neutral or even angry. Your goal is to fill zones with lines that make the NPC happy. Ideally, you want to finish the persuasion with a positive zone.

What happens after successful persuasion? What's the benefit of doing that?

-Frown big loss of points (ideally you want to use the single bar for this one)
-Mildly annoyed look modest loss of points (single bar not as crucial but preferable}
-Smile big gain of points (four bars for the biggest gain to the good)
-Smirk modest gain of points (four bars for a modest gain to the good)

It boosts their opinion (disposition) of you (alternatively you can bribe them), this sometimes lets them tell you things they otherwise wouldn't, or allows you to haggle better buy/sell prices at a merchant

Top tip: Buy a charm spell to cast on NPC's before selling so you can see for more moneys

with persuasion you can get an NPC to 100, bribing usually only gets you between 70-90

persuasion also levels the speechcraft skill bribing doesnt

It's the free way to raise disposition, and get some exp related to speechcraft. Each "round" of the little mini game will raise and lower disposition according to your choices (can watch it add or subtract as you pick). Sometimes you can raise them to max disposition without spending a septim, most the time you'd still need to chuck a little gold their way to max their disposition to the fullest extent you can (not that you need every npc to like you as much as possible). When they like you more, they either give you more information if they have it, give you more wiggle room on haggling if they are merchants, or sometimes get you out of trouble if you happen to befriend a guard who responds first, stuff like that.

When the mini game pops up:

- click the small line as it rotates around the circle, there will now be colors. You can also look for facial expressions before clicking anything, but this is tedious.

- when the small line is on the red and orange click it.

- when the large line is over the green and yellow click it.

It's free way to make people like you and permanently. Charm spell increase is only temporary.
